I think David meant that you need to think bigger. 50" is still way too small!

Well, I've still got some budget restrictions to deal with. Not sure just yet what the bottom-line $ figure will be...but I'm seeing some 50" sets of decent quality that would be a nice upgrade.

Plus, I think anything much larger than 50" would be a bit too large for our room.

But...it's early. We'll see how things fall out!

Yep. I tend to think a 60" as the minimum in many rooms (with proper viewing distances of course) to get the most from Blu-ray. Obviously budget restrictions, furniture constraints, etc. can interfere. My dad upgraded recently to about a 50" screen. He couldn't go bigger because of the furniture they bought a year or two ago. He keeps saying he wishes he had a bigger screen and for his viewing distance he really needs it, but what are you going to do.

I thought I knew you, man.

I mean that. I practically spit out an entire soda laughing when I read that.

Honestly, I've got a lot of research in front of me to do... I know a little something about software...but the hardware side of the equation is always a puzzle because I don't deal with it all that much.

I know how you feel. . .I upgrade my gear so infrequently that I'm always shockingly behind the times when I start looking into it. I'm not motivated to keep up with tech when I know that I can't justify buying new stuff just for the sake of having new stuff (much as I'd like to).
Have fun! :)
PS Sorry about the soda.
