The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Thanks for another early RoundUp, Mike! Apart from My Beautiful Laundrette, there's nothing of much interest for me this week.

This is one of those rare weeks where not one single release has been assigned to me for review, but thankfully I have some special treats coming in that I'll be busy on during this upcoming week.

Thanks for the Roundup, Mike. What We Do in the Shadows is great and I would love to own it, but I've spent enough this month already that it will have to wait. Nothing else for me this week.

I have an interview with Jemaine Clement going up soon talking about his film (which I loved.) He talked about a spin off with the two police officers (as a TV show in New Zealand,) which would be great if it comes about!

In my opinion, getting punched in the balls by Batman would be a better deal than buying Paul Blart.

Wow!

This is the weakest week in memory!

I don't understand why they couldn't at least start releasing TV series like Flash Season 1 and Arrow Season 3 in the middle of the Summer instead of waiting until September.

Starting in September we'll be seeing a glut of popular movie releases like "Furious 7" ( and perhaps some classics like the long-awaited "My Fair Lady" 4K master Blu?) They need to start spacing these things out a little!

I may swing into Target when I get home for Mockingjay I, but I'm not going out of my way to do so. We just booked three different trips for the end of the year this week and I REALLY have to save every penny I can find.

I guess they do it to try and cross-promote with the premiere of the new season of episodes on TV. But it seems like if a viewer was behind on watching the show, releasing it earlier in the summer would be better to allow them to binge watch and catch up, so they'd be ready to watch the new episodes. By releasing the prior season so late, there's no time to catch up, and the viewer will not be ready or willing to watch the broadcast of the new episodes.

Seems counter-intuitive to me.

Not a new release, but I did pick up Justified S 5 and 6 at Target with their BOGO50% deal for $22, The ad show S6 being $15 though instore it wasn't ringing up that way, S5 is $15, so I showed the Associate the ad and he agreed with his manager to decrease the price.

The BOGO50% sale appears to be just a handful of items online, but there are signs all over the Movie Dept that it's on all DVD/Bluray except Scooby Doo and another item.

Interstellar is ringing up $10, Lucy $8, Boyhood $15, I think Gone Girl was $15 so lots of recent releases are at quite nice discounts though I suspect by
Nov/Dec some of these will be sub $10 items.

Wait...

Is Diving Bell really just now getting a domestic DVD?

Barnes & Noble, in a physical store, I hope. I have an order that I hope is fulfilled by the weekend. I'll pay more at B&N, probably, than online or at Walmart, so I think I'm losing the game. I'll have to mount a rally in the bottom of the 9th!

On the outside chance you were unaware, it's up for just $8.92 at Amazon.
And 8.75 at BN.com (not sure what it would be in store) -- if you're ordering other things (Criterion, etc) there are also some discount codes in the BN thread /plus I'm still hoping for a last set of coupons for instore discounts during the last weekend of the Criterion Sale
