(Blu-Ray) after a title = New Blu-Ray release.

(HD-DVD) after a title = New High-Definition release.

(CC) after a title = New Criterion Collection release.

Individual titles included in box sets listed above:

The Complete Sherlock Holmes Collection: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Sherlock Holmes and the Voice of Terror, Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon, Sherlock Holmes in Washington, Sherlock Holmes Faces Death, The Pearl of Death, The Spider Woman, The Scarlet Claw, Pursuit to Algiers, Sherlock Holmes and the House of Fear, The Woman in Green, Terror By Night, Dressed to Kill.

The Disclaimer Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Annapolis AND Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One for the Road AND Failure to Launch AND Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Reunion are ALL available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s) ! Also, Ultraviolet is available in both Rated and Unrated/Extended Cut versions…get the one that’s right for you!

--I listed Equinox (CC) in this week’s table…even though most e-tailers are telling me they actually had it last week. All of my “New Release” lists that I check list it for a 6-27 release.

--Last week I wondered aloud why stores weren’t promoting the heck out of the first week of release of Blu-ray titles. I guess they decided to wait until this week. Anyone buying Blu-Ray titles should be careful…there are a fair amount of discrepancies between prices listed on-line and in-store. There are also wide price variances between retailers.

--Best Buy this week, for example, is advertising a pretty good deal on Blu-Ray discs. BUY 3 BLU-RAY DVDS AND GET ONE FREE. There are four titles shown in the ad. House of Flying Daggers, Hitch, 50 First Dates & xXx. These are listed at $24.99 apiece. Come in store for more great titles. Must be purchased on same receipt.

--Best Buy is also advertising the “First Blu-Ray Player”…the Samsung BD-P1000 for $999.99. Limited to quantities on hand.

--Best Buy is also holding one of its 2/$20 promotions when you buy BOTH Failure to Launch ($15.99) AND How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days ($9.99). Must be purchased on same receipt.

--Circuit City has prices listed on Blu-Ray discs as well:

$24.99 - 50 First Dates, Hitch, House of Flying Daggers, Saw, The Fifth Element, The Punisher (2005), The Terminator, xXx.

$27.99 – Crash, Lord of War, Underworld.

--Circuit City has a 2/$20 deal on the purchase of both Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One for the Road ($14.99) AND Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again ($9.99). In store only. Purchases must be on same receipt.

--Save $6 at Circuit City with the purchase of BOTH Cow Belles AND Leroy and Stitch ($17.99 apiece). In store only. Purchases must be on same receipt.

--Circuit City also has an EXCLUSIVE FREE MASTERS OF HORROR POSTER with the purchase of EITHER OF THIS WEEK’S NEW Masters of Horror release. While supplies last. Minimum 5 per store.

--Circuit City has EXCLUSIVE THREE FREE MUSIC DOWNLOADS with the purchase of Failure to Launch.

--Circuit City also has a FREE EXCLUSIVE BONUS DVD with the purchase of One Love 3: Pure Heat. Bonus disc includes interviews and footage featuring Kobe Bryant ($9.99).

--Circuit City is advertising FREE MOVIE MONEY to see “Little Man” with the purchase of the following four titles: Beauty Shop, Hitch, Guess Who, Into the Blue ($9.99 apiece). $10 value. In theaters 7/5/06 Have you guys seen the TV trailer for Little Man? I know people love the Wayans and all…but doesn’t the trailer make the film look just awful? I realize it’s probably just a simple matter of preference…but it sure looks bad to me.

--And Target’s got an EXCLUSIVE BONUS DVD with it’s copies of Project Runway: Season 2 Quantity limited, no rainchecks.

Thanks, Mike and Patrick. Just Strangers With Candy: Complete Series for me. Whether I get it this week or later on is the question.

Anyone have any info on that new release of Plan 9 From Outer Space? I've never seen it, but I'm a huge fan of Tim Burton's Ed Wood, and I've always meant to get around to seeing the real thing.

Sorry about not posting last week, but due to the lack of any deals I just didn't both to post my usual "nothing this week remark"...which is going to be my response this week.

This was a very pointless post from me I think. Sorry Mike.

Nothing at all for me this week. Between the DDD sale two weeks ago and last week's Superman bonanza (and needing some cash for six SR tickets this week), I don't think there'll be anything else to buy until mid-July.

That's one heck of a dry spell, eh?

Thanks Mike and Patrick, as always.

Anyone picking up a BD-P1000 this morning? I'm still trying to decide if I want to be an early adopter (didn't go for HD DVD).

Many have already picked one up. Check out the Blu-Ray hardware threads... you'll probably continue to not be an early adopter after reading those. :)

Also - volume 1 of that 80s Saturday morning animated series "Galaxy High" is supposed to be coming out this week. That may be the only thing I get unless I decide to risk a blind buy on "Ultraviolet". I'd get the Blu-Ray version in anticipation of owning a PS3, but I believe the unrated version is only available on DVD.

Oh shoot - and Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 10 comes out this week, too...

There are a few things I'd like, but will probably only get Ultraviolet. I think I am one of the 3 people that liked this....

Just Columbo for me this week. Just as well, since next week will be the expensive Dr. Who boxset.

You'd be better off getting the Image version since it also contains a 2 hour documentary on the film. Or, Image's Ed Wood Collection, which has five films (including Plan 9 and the doc) plus a full 2+ hour documentary with Wood's early short film and other goodies.
