Cowboy Bebop for me. Thanks Dave.
Thanks David! Luckily, nothing for me this week (and last) as The Dark Tower books are being reprinted in hardcover (there goes $100) and I just got a new receiver and speakers. Phew!
I can see where you're coming from Dave. Its just that it feels so much like an endorsement of a release strategy that I hate (namely because of their similar treatment of the Law and Order releases, which weren't as long I believe) that it sort of feels wrong. But, it did work out for Twin Peaks, so perhaps all isn't lost.
When I mentioned edited, I meant the bleeping out of cuss/curse words. That annoys the ...bleeep... outta me. I didn't even think about nudity on that show, since when I've seen it on CC, there really isn't any. Explitives are beeped out and that's what I thought was edited still.
Thanks again Dave! Looks like Punch Drunk Love, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Lost in Mancha, and maybe Roger Waters: The Wall: Live in Berlin ($14.99 at BB) for me. If anyone finds a good deal somewhere for Lost in Mancha please post it. Also, on the 2 for $12 deal at BB can you get two of the same movie? (A friend wants FBDO as well and we want to split the $12).
Cowboy Bebop for me. Thanks for the roundup, Dave.
Also this week for those Alan Resnais fans like myself be sure to look for: __________TITLE__________ _ _Amazon _ BestBuy _ CrcCity _ DVDPlanet Night & Fog__________________11.21____14.99_____12.99_____ _9.72 Hiroshima Mon Amour___________29.96____34.99____34.99_____25.97 I'd suggest getting the titles at DVDPlanet since they have a close relation with Criterion for some reason. Not to mention they used to be Ken Cranes Laserdisc store. Don't expect Circuit City to have them in stock (or at least near me). Maybe bestbuy but I don't think they'll be below list price by much.
Jodee, of course. I had forgotten that I got the pilot as an import. So I guess I should be more worried than I thought. Is there even a precendent for a Region 1 release with a pilot on one release and a season set to follow?
Best Buy is also having a sale on Superbit versions of Bad Boys and Charlies Angels for 17.99 in conjunction with the movie sequel releases. I'm definetly on those since I never got Charlie's Angels and my old Bad Boys is showing signs of rot.
I have a question about the Dead Zone that just came out. Does it contain the Pilot or do I need to go out and get that before buying the season set?
That's great to hear. I think I'll pick it up. Hopefully they'll take that as interest in seeing the entire first season (sans pilot episode, of course).
Alex, You do not need to buy the single disc release of the pilot. The Season One collection comes with the entire first season. In addition, there is a printout enclosed to send away for a free bonus disc of the unaired pilot as well.
Babylon 5 started on DVD with the pilot + one of the movies; reaction was good so Warner went ahead with the series.
Here's what I've been able to glean on Lost in La Mancha: Amazon: 22.46 Best Buy: 17.99 Circuit City: 19.99 Costco 19.99 I couldn't find any listing for either Sam's or Target.
Mark, from memory that sounds correct.
I'd like to run out at lunch and grab Punch-Drunk Love...can anyone who's already been out verify pricing at Best Buy/Target/Wal-Mart? Thanks for the help!
I just got back from BB: Punch Drunk Love $17.99 Ferris Bueller's Day Off $6 (you can buy the same movie twice for the 2 for $12) Lost in la Mancha - they didn't have any. Anyone else find it at BB? Roger Waters: The Wall: Live in Berlin $14.99 I also picked up Farscape 3.3 $24.99 - I thought this wasn't suppose to come out until next week...
Punch Drunk Love is $19.99 at Target for those of you interested.
