(CC) after a title = New release in the Criterion Collection.

(HD-DVD) after a title = New High-Definition release.

Individual titles included in box sets listed above:

TCM Archives: Laurel & Hardy Collection: The Devil’s Brother, Bonnie Scotland.

The Disclaimer Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Mrs. Henderson Presents is available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one!

--Well, it was inevitable. This is the first week HD titles are being released. For now, I’ll just include them as I found them in the grid with the appropriate notation. Obviously (and I feel stupid saying it here—but since all the e-tailer sites are including it…), an HD-compatible player is required to play any HD release.

--A majorly quiet week otherwise…after several weeks of blockbuster high-profile releases.

--To start things off this week, BB is advertising its HD titles on a separate flyer page than its SD-DVD titles. On the same page as the Toshiba HD-A1 ($499.99) is an offer to buy the HD-A1 and the three HD titles released this week (Million $ Baby, Last Samurai & Phantom of the Opera @ $24.99 apiece) and receive a FREE $25 Gift card, instantly. Look for more HD-DVD titles—coming soon to a Best Buy near you. Must be purchased on same receipt. Gift card good toward future purchase. Online offer may vary.

--Best Buy is advertising FREE BB EXCLUSIVE Tattoos(!) on-pack with it’s copies of Hostel ($14.99). Minimum 40 per store. No rainchecks.

--Best Buy is also advertising that you can save $10, instantly, when you buy any TWO of the following three Disney titles: The Greatest Game Ever Played, Chicken Little, Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin. Must be purchased on same receipt.

--Best Buy, this week, is advertising EXCLUSIVE BONUS MOVIE CASH to see the new theatrical release Silent Hill. This is a $10.50 value and comes with the purchase of Amityville Horror (2005), Resident Evil, The Fog (NR) and other select titles in store. See a customer specialist(?) for details. Minimum 8 per store. No rainchecks.

--Best Buy is also having a 2/$20 deal on King Kong (2005/1-disc) with select movie titles. Shown in the ad are The Chronicles of Riddick, Shaun of the Dead and Van Helsing (@ $9.99 apiece). Must be purchased on same receipt. See store for details.

--Best Buy has also pulled out a Mother’s Day promotion this week. Get a FREE MOTHER’S DAY GREETING CARD included on-pack with each of these titles: The Phantom of the Opera, Mut Love Dogs, You’ve Got Mail ($6.99 apiece). Minimum 5 per store. No rainchecks.

--No specials listed in this week’s Circuit City flyer. Not that I could get one early. But all other sources…including circuitcity.com…indicate no special deals this week.

--Target has issued NO flyer this week!

Well, BB did not have the HD-DVD offer going today when I picked up the player and Last Samurai and Phantom of the Opera. I'll have to see if they will rectify that.

Meanwhile, it's Serenity from Amazon via Prime for me. Thanks as usual for the roundup.

Hey Steve: I guess you gotta figure that's an offer that is probably scheduled to kick in on Tuesday...because that's the release date for the HD titles.

Why release the hardware on Sunday if the software ain't around till Tuesday?! :D I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.

I've been enjoying the various threads in High Def Software and Audio/Video Sources as so many HTFers are bringing these babies home! :emoji_thumbsup:

Just ordered L&H from Amazon...

I know Patrick usually reserves the second post for the catalog titles, but he hasn't posted them at 12:30am ET, so I think the holiday weekend kept him from doing so. Although Target has no ad this week (the only week of the year they don't usually publish one...) I do have some info on titles that they are carrying...I just won't have prices til Monday or Tuesday to post:
Hostel
Mrs. Henderson Presents
Breakfast on Pluto $19.99
Mercenary for Justice $19.99
Remington Steele S3 $27.99
Thundercats S2V1
I'll post prices ASAP...

(EDIT: I posted prices for some stuff I was able to confirm early. The rest are coming!)

I guess the guy saw the sale of a player, a service plan, and decided the discs were okay to go. This was Saturday mid-afternoon, BTW. The players were shipped Fedex Saturday to most stores; each one got around 3, at least in this area. They won't be giving out too many gift cards, at this rate.

I'll talk to customer service on Tuesday, bringing up Million Dollar Baby to purchase, and see what they say.

Same with the HD players in Vegas. Two of the local BB's got three each. I was about to plunk down the cash for one, but I couldn't even...monetarily convince... the BB kid to sell me any of the discs. They said the fines are a killer, $500 per disc sold before street date. Good for those of you who got them.

Thanks for the Round Up, boys. Mr. Arkadin and maybe Hostel for me.

BTW, for those wondering about the Event Horizon SE: I'm trying to get the review done, and I should have it up by Monday night. It is well worth every penny, this is a great SE. More later...

Must... remember... that I... amwaiting... to see who wins... HD... format war! Must... resist... buying...first player... to market!

They don't make that easy by making Serenity one of the first titles out... :frowning:

Nothing on my to-buy list.

I agree, Mike, a majorly quiet week, release-wise! Possibly Mr. Arkadin, but otherwise, nothing else for me this week. Thanks, as always, for the RoundUp!

If no one has posted prices for Titus by the time I get here in the morning I will look them up and post them myself. Too sleepy to do it tonight.

Happy Easter and thanks for the round up Whimpy and Patrick. Sadly nothing this week, as I am in a retro mood for some games.

Weak week.

Thanks as usual. Maybe American President if the PQ is significantly improved, otherwise nothing.
