    What a week!

There's gotta be a "film for you" in this week's list of new releases! We've got Marvel, the "Road" movies, 3-D titles, contemporary drama, Eugene O'Neill, Doris Day, Stephen King, and much, much more! Order now!

And I experimented pulling some BestBuy info off their site. If I go that route, I won't be getting their weekly catalog sales, but maybe that's not crucial to the task-at-hand.

    Safe shopping RoundUppers! :D

Is Friday the new post day for the RoundUp? If so then that's great.

Aquaman 3D and Jivaro 3D were both pre-ordered and are on their way.

For anyone interested, note that the Amazon 3D of Aquaman is one of their stripped versions containing only the 3D disc and a digital code, yet nearly twice the price of other retailers. If you want 3D, I'd recommend you buy it somewhere else to get the multi-disc combo and digital code, as well as any extras which are usually included only on the standard blu-ray.

Thanks for the early RoundUp, Mike!

I'll certainly be buying the two Road films I didn't get to review (Singapore, Morocco; I'm slated to review Utopia but it hasn't arrived). I've pre-ordered Doris' film already. Aquaman was my favorite character from Justice League, so I will eventually add the film to the collection somewhere down the road despite some bad reviews.

Having worked at Best Buy for almost 5 years, their advertised catalog movies were always hit or miss as most stores typically received only a handful of what was advertised anyway, even if it was a new release of a catalog title. Anyone remember the Jaws fiasco when that film debuted on Blu-ray during Discovery Channel's Shark Week? Each store received, maximum, 2 exclusive digibooks, 4 standard Blu-rays, and 6 DVDs. Each store had to post signs apologizing for the unanticipated popularity of the title and that more stock would be in shortly (each store would receive ten standard Blu-ray later that week), despite taking out a half-page ad promoting the release in their weekly flyer and during Shark Week. To be fair, Andersen was still handling media at the time, but still. I was not working there at the time of that fiasco, but years later I put Jaws on the TV in the break room one afternoon during lunch, and received the now infamous quote "Is this Jaws? I've never seen it. I heard it wasn't very good." Millennials!!

Thanks so much for your work, Mike, as always.

If Beale Street Could Talk will be on its way to me from Amazon this week. I thought it was one of the best movies of last year and it should have been considered as such by the Academy. Because they nominated it for three awards, including writing, we can tell they liked it. This is where I feel like if they can nominate ten, they probably should, because its box office (which was pretty anemic unfortunately) could really have used a boost from being associated with the top award. My guess is that Beale Street would have been Best Picture nominee #9 if it had had enough support to get on the ballot and just barely missed it. So why not recognize a film they clearly liked with a nomination that would help people take more notice of it? Anyway, it's a fantastic movie and one that I hope will be able to find a wider audience now that it's arrived on disc.

I'm also really glad Can You Ever Forgive Me? is finally reaching Blu-ray...but after having bought three titles last week, plus Beale Street, I didn't plan for a such a quick and unexpected turnaround from announcement to release on that movie. So it's going to have to wait for a bit longer before I get it. It would be nice if it got to ~$19.99 or so before I pull the trigger. If it were the only thing I wanted for the next few weeks, I would probably jump on it now. But it's not, and I've already been waiting since its DVD-only release back in February. So I guess I can wait a bit longer.

Both of these titles are being distributed by Fox -- how much longer until we can't order those on Amazon anymore because Disney will eventually combine the Fox home entertainment operations with their own? (Also, it seems like Annapurna may want to find another distributor for their disc product.)

I received all four Road Pictures yesterday from Kino. Great stuff, and glad to finally have all them on blu-ray.
Hope to have time this weekend to spin at least one of these up.

Strange how no one ever talks about the eighth Road picture, Road to Perdition. :)

Best Buy's website gives the price for I Wanna Hold Your Hand as $27.99, not $17.99. Does the sale price not take effect until tomorrow or something?

I apologize. That's just a straight-up typo on my part.

    $27.99 is the correct price.

The grid has been corrected. Sorry.

Target has many 4K/UHD titles on sale with a $5.00 gift card from each 4K/UHD title. I bought the following titles for about $71, sales tax included with my RedCard discount and using $40 of accumulated gift cards then getting back another $20 in gift cards in return:

    Green Book
    Creed II
    Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
    The Karate Kid

I forgot to add in my previous post that Capernaum is a great film and I'm glad Sony Pictures Classics has chosen to release a Blu-ray of it, since they usually don't. However, I don't think I'll buy it since it's not something I wold want to watch repeatedly. It's very much worth the time and money to rent it once if you've not seen it and I highly reccomend it, but it's a very intense emotional experience and not a "fun" film. So once is enough I think. But I do think it's worth seeing.

I am trying to wrap up my review for the UHD Pet Sematary for tonight, but I did want to pop in and say that it's a stunning looking disc and, if you are a fan and 4K capable, it's a must own.
