Believe it or not, I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer, who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me.

–Theme song as sung by Joey Scarbury (The Greatest American Hero – 1981)

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Shark Tale is available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one. Raging Bull is available in both 1-disc and 2-disc versions. And, The Life (aka Whore) is available in both rated (R) and unrated (NR) versions…get the one that’s right for you.

--Amazon is still featuring free shipping on orders over $25. Restrictions apply.

--At Best Buy, you can purchase both The Notebook ($15.99) and Message In a Bottle ($9.99) and get them both at 2/$20.

--Also at Best Buy, if you purchase Shark Tale ($15.99) then you can purchase Shrek ($14.99) for just $6.

--And, in case you missed out last week, Best Buy is still offering a deal on its exclusive DVD “Genius: A Night for Ray Charles”. Buy it ($14.99) on the same receipt with Ray (19.99) and save $4 instantly.

--Circuit City is offering a FREE lithograph with its copies of Shark Tale. Free lithograph with purchase of Shark Tale on DVD includes certificate of authenticity. $5.99 value. In-store only. Minimum 20 per store. While supplies last.

--Also at Circuit City, buy Shark Tale ($14.99) and Shrek ($9.99) on the same receipt and save $3.

--Circuit City is also advertising bonus discs with its copies of Fresh Prince of Bel Air: Season 1 and The Jamie Foxx Show: Season 1. I am uncertain if these are Circuit City exclusives but I do not see these sets advertised the same way anywhere else.

--At Target, a FREE “bubble watch” is being offered as a promotion along with their copies of Shark Tale. Items are packaged together. Quantity limited. No rainchecks.

Well there is certainly more titles this week compare to last time, but still the number of stuff to get is small. I will get Nightcourt first season (I always like watching this show when it was on tv), and even so I never seen it, Raging Bull. Thank Mike for making us laugh about love again. [IMG]

And...let the record show, I completely resemble the man on the right...except for his rugged good looks, and dark, spikey '80s hair. And, I've never worn a purple t-shirt OR a white suit. I DO, however, have a little five o'clock shadow thing goin' on... [IMG]

Markie Post doesn't join Night Court until the 3rd season. Karen Austin was is s1, and Ellen Foley was in s2.

Also, the first season only had 13 episodes.

I'm getting Night Court, Murphy Brown, Greatest American Hero, and Eternal Sunshine this week

    Christi:

Thanks for the chronology of the "Women of Night Court". Obviously, I had a thing for Markie Post....AND I remember Ellen Foley. But, Karen Austin? Doesn't ring a bell.

Was all set to salute Greatest American Hero at the top of this week's roundup. There is a huge mixup on release dates these first three weeks of February (2/1, 2/8, 2/15), When I found out GAH was being released next week, I had to quickly sub our old friend Roger Ramjet into that space! [IMG]

As an aside, I'm glad to see MGM with some decent pricing on this 1-disc/2-dic releae of Raging Bull. This seems like bargain pricing to me...definitely when compared to the similar style releases of Ray and The Terminal recently by Universl/Dreamworks. [IMG] to MGM!

**Just did a quick check. Karen Austin just appeared in a recent episode (1/23/05) of Desparate Housewives!

**I almost forgot to post that I found an excellent DVD deal at my local FYE store last night (Colonie Center store for anyone interested in the Albany, NY area)!

The 2-disc SE of Casablanca for just $14.99!

I didn't remember hearing of a price drop...and I just checked on the following prices on-line:

    Amazon/$20.24, BestBuy/$20.99, and Circuit City/$19.99

I thought maybe it was a mis-price...but they had a bunch of them and they were all lined up on an end cap. I upgraded my 1-disc version quicker than you can say "Here's looking at you, kid."
