Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, the week of the release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website...but it COULD still be in-stores!
I only include the titles I feel like including. In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. I have a lovely wife and a four-year-old son I'd rather spend time with. Please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like I do!
Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

* They do it AGAIN! I see that K-Mart has the Beauty and the Beast - 2 Disc Platinum Edition DVD for just $15.95 this week! WITH a bonus item included: a free Music CD! :emoji_thumbsup: Note: I haven't verified this firsthand yet, as K-Mart's site still has the ad from *two weeks ago* posted (sigh). I'm getting this info from SaleCircular.com's site. They've been dependable in the past, though.
* BE CAREFUL! Scooby-Doo: The Movie is available in both Widescreen and Fullscreen versions...get the correct one. And, don't forget it's a Friday release for Scoob and the gang (Oct. 11th).
* Non-OAR discs are, as usual, entirely left off the Roundup. Examples: Muppet Christmas Carol, Missing In Action 2/3 Double-Feature, Jungle 2 Jungle, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Honey I Blew Up The Kid and even New Line's Brother's Keeper. New Line, say it isn't so!!! :frowning:
* Defining some of the odder-sounding items in this week's Roundup:
  • Dance Pack Gift Set: Grease (WS), SNF, Urban Cowboy, Footloose, Flashdance. Comes to $15-per if bought from Costco.
  • Travolta Collection: Grease (WS), SNF, Urban Cowboy. Comes to $15-per if bought from Best Buy.
  • Cold Hearts: a vampire flick co-starring Amy Jo "Pink Power Ranger" Johnson! I hope it's sexy! :b Hey, it won a film festival award!
* Saturday Night Fever comes in a cardboard digipack case, like Grease did a couple of weeks ago. But Grease turned up in the "warehouse" stores (Sam's, Costco, even BJ's) in plastic keepcases. The same is likely to happen with SNF, so check for it. I wonder if the gift sets will be different, though?...
* Enough director Michael Apted has already revealed in two different interviews that a Special Edition DVD of this film is in-the-works for next year. If you're not interested in being double-dipped, then hold off on this movie-only edition.
* Jurassic 5 has a new album out called "Power In Numbers", and the limited edition release this week (sold as low as $11.99 in some stores) includes a bonus DVD with music videos and documentaries about the band.
* At Best Buy: If you purchase any other Disney DVD at the same time as Beauty and the Beast, you save $5 off the total. If you buy both Jason X and Jason Goes To Hell at the same time, you save $10 off the total.
* Been looking for a portable DVD player? (I have). Best Buy will give you a $50 gift card this week if you purchase any portable DVD player. They start at $399.99 for a Mintek with a 7" 16x9 screen (with Dolby and DTS). Oooooh, honey...do you know what I want for Christmas?
* And, since Red Dragon hit theaters this past Friday, I'll mention that you can hit Best Buy and nab Manhunter (movie-only edition) and the Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal 2-pack for just $30 when bought on the same transaction...so you can have the complete Hannibal Lector trilogy before the remake hits disc! ;)
* Finally at Best Buy, reserve a copy of the PS2 videogame "Tony Hawk 4" ($5 deposit) for this 10/31 release, and you'll get a free DVD featuring the making of the game. Interesting how CD's and videogames have DVD supplements now!
* At Circuit City: Purchasers of Beauty and the Beast get a free interactive CD-ROM disc for their PC's.
* Borders: Here we go again! :rolleyes:I've listed their stores' prices in the Roundup, and as usual they are rather high. But Link Removed and Link Removed are coupons for Borders to celebrate their new stores in Highland Park, IL. & La Habra, CA. They are good through 10/18...theoretically at any location in the US and Puerto Rico. Despite the headline on the coupon saying "20% off", there is a small-print disclaimer that states DVDs are limited to 15% off. So you should be able to get all the $19.99 Paramount titles (SNF, Staying Alive, Flashdance, Footloose) AND Beauty and the Beast for just $16.99 each...better than almost anyone else's prices!! (It's also worth noting that I printed my La Habra coupon before the "limit 15%" disclaimer was added, so I should be able to get each of those for $15.99 each! I'll let you know how it goes!)
* K-Mart has Enough and (on Friday) Scooby-Doo for $19.95 each. Don't miss the Beauty and the Beast for $15.95, with free music CD!
* Target brings us Saturday Night Fever for $17.99, and Friday's release of Scooby-Doo for $14.99.
* Nothing cooking at CompUSA this week: there are no advertised specials this week.

Dave, I can comfirm this info as I do have the new K-mart circular in my lap as I type. Looks like I'll be making a trip to K-mart on Tuesday night after work.

If you have a Meijer in your area, you might want to check them Tuesday for their price on Beauty & the Beast. If you buy 3 Nabisco cracker or cookie products, you get a $5 off coupon for the DVD. They did this with Monsters, Inc., and then had the DVD for 13.99, bringing your total to 8.99 for the DVD. They don't have the the price for BATB advertised in their ad or on their website, so I'm not sure how good the deal will be this time.

David,
Excellent job as always! Looks like the Jason flicks for me and save up for the run of TV box sets coming within the next month (Farscape, ST:TNG, Babylon 5 & Highlander).
I have a Mintek DVD-1710 and it can't be beat for the price! So far mine's handled everything I've fed it; yeah, it can be tempermental with some disks but if you persist you can eventually beat it into submission! ;)

Thanks for all the great work, Dave. Also, Target has "Footloose" for $16.99, "Scooby Doo" for $14.99 and "Jason X" for $15.99. "Beauty and the Beast" and "Enough" are listed as "Low Price".

If you are a collector of such things, the Disney Store is offering four lithographs with BEAUTY AND THE BEAST preorders. If you buy four of the matching frames for $14.75 each, you get the DVD "free" with that purchase:

This is only good for preorders and in-store reservations, though, which means that the offer expires Monday.

Since almost all of the K-Marts closed down in this area (blasted company losing money and torandos), I will get Beauty and the Beast from Wally Mart. Might try to lower the price if there a large difference. Thinking about getting Scooby Doo too, but even after the reviews, I unsure due to the horrible commerisals.

"The Grifters" is also scheduled for release this week - first time in anamorphic widescreen from Miramax. I already found one on the shelf a few days ago in my local BB for $14.99 and picked it up. A great movie at a cheap price!

To add to steve's note on the disney store, if you spend $50 and preorder B&B you get a B&B $10 gift card. I took advantage of this during the $10 dvd sale they had last week. With the 2 B&B preorders I got $20 to use and buy 2 other DVD's with. Too bad the sale was short, but the $10 is still a good deal. And you get the lithos.

Here is K-Mart's ad:

Looks like the free Music CD is BatB-related, as I think was a safe assumption. ;) But there are only 2 songs on it: "Something There" and "Belle". I guess they couldn't put "Be Our Guest" on there, or it would cut into sales of the soundtrack CD. :rolleyes:Anyway, it's attached right to the box, so it's easy to make sure we get 'em. OTOH, it's nothing so vital I won't run to Wal-Mart for a pricematch lickety-split. :D
Doing the math on the BB vs. CC promotions for the new Jason releases, it looks like you come out $1 ahead if you hit CC. Hey, a buck's a buck!
It looks like we're getting off sorta light this week at our household...only $200 to spend! Beauty and the Beast, Billy Bathgate, Blondie, Flashdance, Footloose, Jason Goes To Hell, Jason X, Pat Benatar, Saturday Night Fever, Scooby-Doo! Winter Wonderdog, Staying Alive, Urban Cowboy, Scooby-Doo: The Movie. Whew!
Oh, and possibly that Mintek portable. :) Carlos: "Beat it into submission"? Wha...
Okay, so Brother's Keeper turns out to be a TV-Movie. My bad. Sorry, New Line...your rep is intact! Thanks a lot, Matt! :b
re: "Also, Target has 'Footloose' for $16.99, 'Scooby Doo' for $14.99 and 'Jason X' for $15.99. 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Enough' are listed as 'Low Price'. " Thanks for the assist, Bob. To be fair, I *did* mention Scooby-Doo...check again! As far as it goes, Target's online ad wasn't up yet this morning. Now that it is, I also see that a BatB purchase there saves you $3 on 12-packs of any 7Up product, and that Scooby-Doo! Winter Wonderdog is $14.99 on DVD.
Also, Bob, Grifters CD was actually a 9/24 release. But I skipped it on the Roundup, so maybe you just didn't realize. Sorry I can't include everything!! :frowning:
As far as BatB at the Disney store goes, I skipped mentioning that because there seemed to be separate threads about the deals with the lithographs (a common DS occurance for preorders) and the $10 GC with $50 purchase. Thanks to the fellas who brought us up-to-speed right here.

Does anyone know Best Buy's reputation with taking printouts of online circulars for price matches (specifically K-Mart's BatB ad)? thanks.
