Another great round up. Sad to hear about BB kicking up their prices. I hope CC and other stores take advantage of this move otherwise its back to online shopping for me. Come to think of it, I seriously can't remember the last time I bought any titles online.

I thought Ive noticed that at BB. Glad you pointed it out. Well, I thought they would be the way to go for me, especialy since Im in the reward zone card test market, but between their customer service and now this, I realize why Ive only bought one dvd there in the past 3 months. Thank goodness for etailers, and especialy those in Canada! May there selections be great and their currency be down!

I've read, can't remember where, that the Best Buy price increases affect 10,000 titles in the music and movies area. I know the last time I was there the Star Trek TOS discs had all been bumped.

i think some of those 5.99 titles at TARGET are full frame only...."10" and "my blue heaven" defintely.
Some of those ARE FS-only (Maid To Order comes to mind), but not on "10". You see, I own "10", and it is FS on one side but WS on the other side.
Scott, I wasn't *born* in Houston. Brooklyn, NY actually. Moved to Boomtown, USA when I was 10...my dad got transferred.
Kenneth: if you were gonna order the E.T. Collector box so you can get the original version, you DON'T HAVE TO! The original version will be in the cheaper 2-disc version. Yep!
Rob, I blame *everything* on you, so we're even! ;)
BooneG: :b I'll go change it in a minute! Thanks for the heads-up!
Mike, thanks for keeping me honest about FYE!
Dennis, I meant to mention the box set breakdown for Newman. Thanks for filling everyone in!

I knew David, just making sure if the extra on the third disc were worth it. Turns out, nope, so probably just get Civilization 3 or some dvds.

Dave!

Thanks for that one-liner (and thanks to David Ely, too!) for that incredible news about the ET 2-disc set!
If you hadn't pointed it out to me here I might have missed it. I even recently did a search to check on any news about the ET release, but mistakenly read the first "official thread". Awesome!

Don't know about that Kmart pricing on BATB, Dave. The store I visited had already posted signs for the next week's sale. They were all flipped backwards with "Starts 10/13" written on the back. I flipped over the ones attached to the DVD case and they said "BATB $15.95," so I assumed the sale was on for another week.

Perhaps it was just this store, or maybe they were using the wrong signs? I dunno.

There were a huge number of what the company calls "permanent price changes" that went into effect company-wide over the past week or so. Literally, price changes on at least 10,000 SKUs in the CD and DVD sections, a big majority of which were price-hikes (probably 75-80% of the prices went up). I saw DVD prices that went from $9.99 to $17.99, $14.99 to $17.99, $19.99 to $22.99, on up. There were even some anime box sets which went from $149.99 to $199.99!

So these are permanent price hikes and not just temporary ones for the "Preferred Appreciation Coupon" weekend? OOF. Methinks I'll be sticking to Laser Blazer for catalog titles after all.

Another great roundup. No purchases for me this week, but I was glad to learn of Best Buy's new price increases.

Thanks, Dave!

Heads up on Casino Royale:
I heard that Best Buy is supposed ot have it on sale next week for $12.99. So if you didn't pre-order it online somewhere cheaper, I'd wait a week. (I got mine from DVD Empire for $12.39-- along with The Russians Are Coming, The Russians are Coming).
I am wondering if Best Buy will allow a Circuit City price match on the American Idol DVD, even though they are offering a "bonus disc". I suppose it's worth a try, if I get there early enough and have a clueless cashier ring me up. $3 is $3!

Bingo-jingo, Jodee: you nailed it! Casino Royale will indeed be on sale for $12.99 starting on 10/20, and through 10/26. That's to coincide with BB's $12.99 each sale on the other 007 titles that are re-releasing on 10/22: License to Kill, The Spy Who Loved Me, Tomorrow Never Dies, The Man with the Golden Gun, Goldeneye, Goldfinger, and Dr. No.

As far as price-matching AmIdol at BB w/CC's price...I dunno; give it a try. After all, it's a "bonus" disc...it's not supposed to cost you any extra!

Cool, I am going to end up getting all the discs I am missing Bond-wise with these great prices (I only got Box 1 + Dr. No, You Only Live Twice, and World is Not Enough in the first wave).

Matt, I apologize...I really SHOULD have given you credit in the Roundup for the info you supplied.
Shit, Dave, I didn't even think twice about it. But, since you brought it up, to make up for your mistake, you can credit me in your Weekly Roundup for the week of November 12, which I predict will be THE BIGGEST, MOST WIDELY VIEWED AND REPLIED-TO WEEKLY ROUNDUP OF ALL TIME!!! :D
