Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. Look, Dave has a lovely wife and a five-year-old son that he is spending time with. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like he does!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart prices in the standard Roundup: Wal-Mart sets prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart location. When it comes to Wal-Mart prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

--Amazon is still featuring free shipping on orders over $25. Restrictions apply.

--Amazon is offering a set of Friends: Seasons 1 - 6 for $169.99

--Best Buy, this week, is offering up a free copy of the Blair Witch DVD (Reg. $9.99) if you buy House of the Dead.

--**EDIT--TO CORRECT MY LOUSY MATH** Best Buy is also offering up deals on Friends season sets. Season 1 = $29.99, Season 2 = $31.99, Seasons 3 – 5 = $36.99 and Season 6 = $29.99. Buy any 2 and save $10. Buy all 6 and save $90. So, the six sets totals $204.92 - $90 = $114.92 This comes to $19.15 per season set. A pretty good deal (much better than I had originally posted with my lousy "cypherin"!).

--Circuit City is also getting in on the House of the Dead and Friends deals. Buy House of the Dead ($17.99) AND Belly ($19.99) and get $5 off.

--At Circuit City, if you buy Friends Season 6 with any one of Seasons 1 – 5, save $10.

--K-Mart is only half-hearted in its attempt to “get in the game” this week. Their flyer lists Alice in Wonderland, Radio, and House of the Dead for $19.99 each.

--Eckerd (a regional drug store) lists Alice in Wonderland and Radio for $19.99 each.

Thanks Mike.

Just Friends S6 for me, I can't seem to justify the $50 price tag on GI Joe as much as I want it. Radio and Dilbert will be rentals.

Sorry to tell you Mike that your meager math skills are wrong. $204.92 - $90 = $114.92. Too bad I already own the first five.

Sam's Club online lists Alice In Wonderland for $17.97. Whether that will be the price in any of my local Sam's is unlikely.

I want G.I. Joe, The Critic, Friends S6, and Alice In Wonderland. Yet I will be buying none of these soon due to my need to own a laptop before I purchase anymore DVDs. Argh!

Thanks. Just Alice in Wonderland this week; Comic Book The Movie and Radio are rental material.

Now that Down With Love has had a price drop I think I'll need to pick that up soon.

On a semi-related note, I'm ssuprised to seee Daredevil on the list of markdowns. Somehow I don't think that a price drop is the right way for Fox to go. Think about it -- when Daredevil 1.5 comes out later this spring and Average Joe sees a 2-disc special edition for $19.98 retail and $15 or so in-store, vs. Daredevil 1.5 which will probably carry a SRP somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 (at least for a few months until it gets a price drop), do you think it will be the new, more expensive set that they go for? I doubt it. Also, if this is a last attempt to move some more copies of the original release, it could have a damaging effect on DD1.5 because people will think "I just bought Daredevil a coule months ago when its price came down, I don't need another version."

That brings up the point, too, of: Will the exsisting set stay in print when 1.5 is released? The old X-Men DVD is now out of print, but i have a feeling this one might stay in print because it has a PG-13 version of the film which they'll want to continue to make available to people who aren't legally allowed yet to get the R-rated 1.5 version. Not to mention the significance that it is the theatrical version, and that it is a big SE with a lot of extras which may or may not show up on the 1.5 DVD.

Anyway, that's getting off topic, so, that's another thread.

Thanks for the Roundup!

Mike -
Just to let you know, Grind should be left of the Roundup because it has been released in Pan N Scan Only.

Mike, to second Daniel's post, you may want to double check your Amazon price for the Critic. It's always been $34.96 AFAIK (including right now). That's the price (less STL) at which I pre-ordered it a couple weeks ago.

Ugh. I was planning on using a Gift Card at Best Buy for "The Critic" but 41.99? Yeesh. Not that anywhere else is necessarily better. I was hoping for, at WORST 35 bucks. And that's the at BEST now. I guess I'm gonna have to do some price hunting and hope Sams or Target or something like that might offer a bit more competitive a deal.

Chuck & Adam: Thanks to you both! And to think you had the same thought and posted it at EXACTLY the same time. Cool! Here's the thread which discusses this situation here at the HTF!

I have immediately banished Grind from the RoundUp. Begone!

Daniel and scott-j: Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up. All I needed to do was check my own grid onto which I compiled the prices and I had it correct there. Sorry. But, thanks for checking up on it!

To everyone: Thanks for your kind words. It'll be a great thing to have Dave back next week and get thing thing done right. Take it from me, as I have walked in his shoes the past few weeks, he's got really big feet! :D Sorry. Bad joke. Couldn't resist. Seriously, take it from me, we all can't appreciate enough the amount of time & effort it takes Dave to put one of these things together every week. Its a great service and a lot of work.
