This is the kind of week known to bust the wallets of movie aficionados! :D

SO MANY high-profile releases as well as many recent films and even a few older films that movie buffs have been hankering for!

This is a rare week for me as I have four titles I want to buy right out of the gate. I’ve got a question about that in a subsequent post.

I hope there’s something for the rest of you. Let us know. :)

Safe shopping, RoundUppers! 🫡

So I've been critical in recent months about the high prices of media--especially 4k/UHD (since that's my preferred form of media if available).

Well, this week I am interested in four titles (which I have yet to pre-order): the three 4k QT titles and the Blu of Robert Zemeckis' Here.

I will readily admit that I typically make most of my media purchases from Amazon. But as you can see from this week's grid, Amazon has prices much higher than Deep Discount on most titles.

Those four titles pre-ordered on Amazon right now would cost me $141 (including tax).

Those four titles pre-ordered on DeepDiscount right now would cost me $121 (incl. tax).

Only based on my lack of familiarity with ordering from DD, my question is there any reason for me NOT to pre-order those titles from DeepDiscount?

Or maybe you know of places that have these titles even cheaper?

I appreciate any thoughts on this.

Well, I've ordered from them many times and never had an issue. It generally takes longer, I have Amazon Prime so spoiled by fast delivery in most cases, but if you are fine waiting a few extra days to a week, then I don't see a reason you should not. I think they ship from somewhere either in Illinois or out west, so being an East coast guy I expect their orders to take longer to arrive. I like ordering from Bullmoose, they are here on the East coast, and tend to ship fast.

In terms of bargain shopping, I guess you could also try Hamilton Book, they are in Connecticut so East coast, and also tend to get stuff out quickly. I've ordered from them many times as well and things seem to arrive within a week.

Thanks, Reggie. I'm not in a super rush. So that might be the way to go.

I just checked BullMoose.com They clock in at $104 (no shipping since over $75)! But they also are not giving me a tax amount before clicking on "PLACE YOUR ORDER." I would think they'd charge sales tax but 🤷‍♂️ .

I'm not sure why, but Bull Moose has not charged me tax on my past orders. As you say, I'd expect them to. But if they've started since my last order, it should be your NY tax.

I wouldn't hesitate to order from Bull Moose or Deep Discount. I've never had any issues with either.

Well, there you have it. I just pulled the trigger at BullMoose.com and saved $37 over the total at Amazon.com--pending, of course, that they don't lower their prices before January 21. That's enough of a savings to finance another big 4k disc down the road.

By the way, BM charged me no tax or shipping (on orders over $75).

Thanks, everyone, for your input.

Something tells me Amazon will be dropping their prices on these titles closer to release date, but...they actually just upped the price on Kill Bill Vol. 2 to $42.99. 🤷‍♂️

I mean. $31.99 for the Blu of Here...while others have it for $19.99...

Mine arrived this morning from BullMoose.
I've got a big backlog so I'm cool with waiting and keeping my order with Amazon but I got an update today and my copy of Jackie Brown is expected between February 5 and 21, Kill Bill Vol. 2 is still "order received" and Kill Bill Vol. 1 is between February 22 and April 11(!). Amazon usually overestimates their delivery dates so I'm sure it won't actually be April but that one's crazy.

That's nuts. But,as you say, I'm sure they'll get to you much sooner than that!
