Completely underwhelmed. What happened to the series I love? It has gone from the sublime (relatively normal surbuban mom dealing pot) to the ridiculous.

Yeah [IMG] Somewhere in Season 2, they lost the thread of a urban mother struggling to make good, and it's now more of a zany over the top comedy in the spirit of "Sherman Oaks".

This is just not a good show anymore ;( I loved the first season, the second started out interesting and went downhill, and the third starts out with four episodes that are just.. wow.

This show seems as though the writers had a really good concept at first, and then couldn't figure out how to keep it going. And as a result, it became zany weirdness.

I too thought the show lost its zeal in the second season. It became so schizophrenic with its two sides. Kevin Nealon was still funny on his half of the show, but Mary-Louise Parker's half became far too serious and they concentrated far too much on the drug trade. The show was set up to satirize the banality of suburban life, not become "Scarface"-lite.

I don't like the whole U-Turn sub plot that they started. Do we have to go through his threatening of the whole family all year?
Otherwise It is off to a good start though.

Grow up in a pop 600 berg. Everything with a walmart or a movie theater classifies as urban after that [IMG]

You're probably right. I hope the show gets funny again after that event.

I also feel this series has gone a bit off-the-track, but maybe it's all about the need to wrap-up the big season-ending cliffhanger (itself a nod to more conventional television). This show can't be all about the business, although I suppose credit is due for really playing out the potential downside of such a risky endeavor. But still... I think this show needs to remain a satire at heart, and something truly transgressive, subversive and funny for those of us who found "Desperate Housewives" to be none of the above.

I'm still watching. Still not as good as the two previous seasons, but now that the event I was hoping for has come to pass, I expect the rest of the season to get back on track with the next episode.

Jeezus. This show had a big down spin at the beginning, but now it's back to being crazy fun. The finale of this episode, where

Doug causes shit to rain down on Majestic's parade

    Is a RIOT.

I almost believed that Nancy would have sliced up Celia after she tried shaking down Nancy, given what Nancy has had to put up with the past few episodes.

Overall, a tepid episode, even with the bit of adult bonding between Nancy and Conrad at the end.

If that scene would have involved Mary Kate, it would have been a lot more cutting edge.

But the show hit a few episodes that rolled and now has too many loose ends. Still has some great moments, but you have to wonder how any of those things could end... (the first mrs., the payoff to the pi, the threats to run others, etc.)

Just not adding together well. But still has some great moments.

This was an exasperating season to watch as the first couple of seasons were much more entertaining. Hoping a change in locale will regain some footing next season.

I agree. Maybe give it the revival ala Nip/Tuck. Very soft beginning, but fair finish.

I finally got around to watching the last couple episodes. Doug walking around with the banjo was a riot.

Anybody have any insight into where they are going next season? Hopefully not Pittsburgh. [IMG]

God I hope not Pittsburgh. I jokingly figured "over the hill" was literal [IMG]

As long as Doug comes along, he provided the best moments this year; the moment of him dancing during the sewer explosion, and him with the banjo... classic. Both of them.
