My problem is that I wish to connect my laptop to my receiver to listen to mp3s, and I tried going from the headphone 2.5 mm jack to RCA cable to my receiver, and it worked of course, but it's just very quiet. I feel I'm pushing my receiver to try to get decent volume out of my computer.

So I'm looking for a way to listen to my computer's mp3s through my home receiver, and came across this:

Like I said, the sound plays just fine the way I have it right now, it's just a matter of having to crank the volume to get decent levels. Might I have considerably more output if I used to the S/PDIF output usb device in the link through my usb to my receiver than I do right now with my 2.5 mm jack to RCA cable?

If anyone has personal experience, I'd appreciate it very much,

    Thanks,
    Andrew

I don't know about that one in particular, but for the general category of devices: yes, it would be much better.
