Due on November 4th from Warner Bros are four titles in the new Humphrey Bogart Collection.

Look for Dark Passage, High Sierra, They Drive By Night, and To Have and Have Not each to come with new fullscreen transfers, making-of featurettes, never-before-seen outtakes, vintage cartoons, musical shorts, radio shows, trailers and more! Retail is $19.98 each.

    They Drive By Night? [IMG]

Wow! I didn't see that one coming! This is a pretty minor movie in Bogart's career (at least, from my perspective in 2003), but I always liked it (who could not like Ann Sheridan?). That gives me hope that some of his other pre-superstardom movies will see the light of day. We've been complaining about WB's lack of catalog titles since the beginning of DVD, but they are truly turning that around!

I just checked my movie database, and I've seen about 43 of his films. [IMG] Only Jimmy Stewart comes close to that. I can guarantee Warners that I will buy every Bogart title they release!

Oh, yeah. And, To Have and Have Not. I can't wait to see Hoagy on DVD!

Warner - I hope we can expect a Cagney collection soon with White Heat, Public Enemy, Roaring Twenties and Angels with Dirty Faces.

Heck, don't wait for a Cagney collection for The Roaring Twenties. If putting it under the Bogart collection gets it released earlier, I'm all for it. [IMG]

Thanks Patrick, Great News!! Bogart is my favorite actor, I can't own enough of his films on DVD.

I'm with Deepak, a Cagney box set is much, much needed.

My wallet has begun getting a spastic tic whenever WB is even mentioned in passing, it doesn't even have to be related to their DVD releases anymore!

Excellent! I don't like They Drive By Night enough to pick it up, but I'll definitely be getting the other three, and retiring yet another ld (To Have & Have Not)

Great to see Warner releasing more Bogarts although arguably these are lesser titles they are still welcome.

Pity though it couldn't have been more Cagney and Flynn first : The Public Enemy, Angels with Dirty Faces, The Roaring Twenties and White Heat for Cagney ; Captain Blood, The Charge of the Light Brigade, The Sea Hawk and They Died with their Boots On for Flynn are all better films than these Bogart titles.

Bogie's cult status certainly seems to give him an edge when it comes to DVD releases. Along with Cary Grant, John Wayne and James Stewart he is among the most represented stars of the golden age even before the new releases. They are all big favourites of mine and I'm not complaining they are so well represented but some stars aren't so fortunate.

Warner also own all the MGM library : any chance of a Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Jean Harlow or Greta Garbo collection of their 30s' movies (the peak of these stars' careers)?

I'll be picking up 2 or 3 of those Bogarts. Before we get a bunch of Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Jean Harlow or Greta Garbo DVDs, I want my Bette Davis fix!!!
