I was wondering what my options are for watching regular cable with the X1. The only way I can think of is hooking the cable up the the VCR and using the Video out on the VCR to the video in on the X1. IS that the right way?

You can use the RCA video or s-video if your cable box supports it. I don't watch too much regular TV on the X1 but I use the s-video output of my cable box through an s-video RCA adapter into the X1. I'd use the s-video input on the X1 but I already have that running through the s-video - component adapter into my DVD player.
