Many here were dissapointed when Warren, crdited as being the creator of DVD, lost his job at Warner Home Video, where he worked for 20 years. He has now joined the Board of Directors at Sirius Satellite Radio. I am glad that he has joined Sirius, and I think he will bring a lot to satellite radio. The man has a lot of talent, and is very goal-oriented, which is a good thing.

God bless the founder of DVD!

Is it just a coincidence of timing that Warner only started to release its enormous catalog in OAR since Lieberfarb left?

Most of the restorations of those classics used in the dvd releases coming this year and next were budgeted and started on Lieberfarb's watch.

Joining Sirius means he gets paid for sitting on the board with other high profile execs. He'll attend meetings with them. He won't be involved in day to day operations. Being on a board of directors is a perk for high paid or former high paid individuals in business. Nice work if you can get it!

Warren was a classic example of being so good at what he did that his boss decided he was dangerous to him and decided to get rid of him. Isn't it sad how these things happen in the big corporate world.

This "board" position doesn't sound like a full time job, more of an honorary position that pays some money. Big companies like big names on their boards.

I predict he'll end up somewhere soon in charge of something.

Ahh. Thanks for the info. Maybe he will have a significant impact on the company, maybe he won't. We will see in due time.

Most board members in corporations are basically honorary positions. They usually just rubber stamp what management asks them to.
As to the Lieberfarb situation at WB, there are always two sides to the story. Egos run rampant in Hollywood. Gohere for a fascinating article originally published in The New York Times.
