Chris Cooper and Meryl Streep won the Best Supporting Actor and Actress Golden Globes for their work in "Adaptation". Streep is looking to win her first Oscar in 20 years, it would be her third win overall if she were to walk away with the statuette in March.

Well, this is shaping up very interestingly.

Couldn't be happier that Tony Shaloub won for Comedic actor. He brings so much to it.

Richard Gere: (not verbatim, but close) People don't thank him enough. Harvey Weinstein.

Ugh...sometimes he's good, but many a time...

Is Brad Pitt starting to look a lot like Jennifer Anniston?

I still can't believe Gere won over Cage's performance.

Then again, I still don't give all that much credence to the GGs, but it does seem like a good time is had by all.

I didn't think Nicole's performance was better than Lane's or Moore's, and Streep had the emotionally juicier role in the same film (The Hours).

I won't spoil anything for the left coast people, but very interesting results in some cases. Some I got right, some I missed.

And here comes the big one. I still think Hours.

I'm with you Matt. I will readily admit that I haven't seen most of the male nominees yet, but they would have to be The Natural-like light-destroying out-of-the-park-homeruns to beat his performance.

I did see About Schmidt, and while Jack's performance was good...it was a phone in compared to DDL's.

Oh, and also...I can't believe that Adaptation didn't win for screenplay. I feel like I'm in the damn Superman Bizarro World.

Well, Matt, I share your sentiment and I have seen both too. However, I only find it bad in the sense that the loser's effort was so incredibly stellar more than that the other was not good enough. In a "normal" year I think the winner would have been the top effort or darn close.
edit: Yeah, I also agree with that 2nd one, but you probably already knew that if you saw my picks. :)

After looking at the nominees and winners, it seems to me that The Lord of the Rings might be out of the Oscar best picture race. It will definitely get some techies though.

Yah, I know. I agree with you as far as Jack's win
because he was good, as he is in all of his work. Just not as good as the alternative.

Bill,
I agree, but it isn't that much of a surprise...TTT just didn't have the overall appeal (both critically and otherwise) of Fellowship.

Good grief people, in a thread titled "Warning Major Spoilers: 2003 Golden Globe Awards" do we really NEED all these spoiler boxes? If someone comes into the thread before seeing the show they deserve to be spoiled.

Vickie,
I agree which is the reason why I changed the title of this thread with a warning about major spoilers.
