Maybe this is a dumb question, but when does the entire transcript get posted? :b

Dane, this was my initial question I had typed up weeks ago...

I would first like to commend WB for the recent progress being made with the Hanna Barbera cartoons finally being released to DVD; It’s immensely appreciated by all!

Now what the majority of us animation enthusiasts are dying to know is, whether we will eventually see the release of ALL of the classic Hanna Barbera TV character shorts onto DVD via some sort of medium, consistently as the months progress?

We are all very much anticipating primary character themed releases like Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Quickdraw McGraw, Pixie & Dixie, Top Cat, etc. which we trust that WB plans to acknowledge… but what about the potential for lesser widely-recognized series, such as Wally Gator, MaGilla Gorilla, Hong Kong Phooey, Dynomutt, Atom Ant & Secret Squirrel, Auggie Doggie, etc? Is there a good chance that we’ll eventually see ALL of these and possibly others released to DVD and can you offer any insight into the context of how some of these might be presented?

Also, can we expect to see season box sets for the following H-B series: “A Pup Named Scooby Doo”, “Wacky Races”, and “The Smurfs” / “Snorks” and “2 Stupid Dogs”?

I finally got my turn and asked about a Beetlejuice SE instead because their tv rep was leaving and I wanted to try and tie-in the cartoon series w/ my question. They said "we're considering a Special Edition, nothing about the tv series"... or something like that, and that was it.

I wish I would have asked about the HB series, Im banging my head on the desk now, theyre my most anticipated releases of the year!!!

One cool mention from the chat: On the forthcoming King Kong SE: Kong falls with no gaps (lost frames) from the Empire State Building.

Very promising, Warners. :)

Robert, i noticed several repeat questions...maybe a bout 10 or so covering different titles.

3 or 4 seperate ones about Superfriends cartoon (?!) (which is what prompted the comment from Ron).

it helped me- i couldn't log on for 30 minutes, so it was great to know what had been talked about without waiting until tomoorow to find out.

only other disappointment, besides the long wait for Searchers, is that it doesn't seem like the silents are going to coming out very steadily.
The Wind has now moved up on my 'must have' list and even though its a relatively big title for that genre, if they are only planning one or two silent releases for this entire year (and no time soon it sounds like) its probably going to not be making the first round, so that means probably late 2005 at the earliest.

wish there had been some info about Dallas.

a little less playful this time it seemed (although the snapper comment was funny).
but they do deserve kudos for being so generous with their time!

I'm not complaining at all, just funny how I spent 3 hours YOing, and my YOs mostly came up within the first 3-5 lines, yet of course they showed up differently on Ron's end. No biggie. It was just funny that I got to ask the THIRD bonus question. Ron called on me out of the blue - I don't think I even had such fast typing skills! :D

Garbos birthday is the 18th of September, so it looks like it should only be another 18 months before i can screen Queen Christina & Ninotchka in my HT :)

Haggai - Your question was one of my favorite q's of the night. I was really wanting to know about those Freed musicals after watching the documentary about the Freed Unit at MGM on the Singin' in the Rain SE!

I'm still doing backflips over the upcoming Meet Me in St. Louis -- less than a month away! :)

Another great question was from the person who asked about "That Entertainment!" -- a non-snapper Trilogy set coming this year! That seems like a question they were dying to get asked.

If no one asked about the next Looney Tunes release, how come you're all saying "I'm so excited that another Looney Tunes is going to be out by the end of the eyar" What exactly did the WB representative say about the Looney Tunes?

PaulP - I showed up really early on quite a few questions, but I just think it has to do with lag or whatever. Where your computer shows you are isn't really where you are to others. Anyway, it's a little weird. I gave up after I realized it was impossible. :D

Edit:

paul:hillsdon, I guessed I missed it, but apparently Looney Tunes Vol. 2 was said to be out by the end of the year. And also a Tom & Jerry box with similar extras would be out by that time as well.

I'll add my thanks to Ron and Parker for organizing this and to Warners for participating. They are a class act all the way.

All in all, Warners said enough to keep my bank account running scared for the next couple of years. I for one don't mind the spacing out of releases over several years not only for the monetary aspect but also because I know that when Warners doesn't release something until they have something that will make everybody proud.

Thanks, Dane. I also got into those movies even more after watching that same doc. I've always loved Singin' in the Rain, and after seeing that documentary, I watched the TCM schedules for Fair Weather and Band Wagon, both of which I've seen for the first time in the past few months (Band Wagon just a few weeks ago). Great movies, and the magic touch that Warners has with their classic releases bodes very well for them. I'm stoked that Band Wagon looks like it'll get the deluxe treatment, I wasn't sure if it was sufficiently popular/potentially high-selling for them to justify putting that much into it.

If I put a title under the wrong date heading (2005 instead of 2004, or something similar) my apologies.

Wow, Brandon, you're the man! Thanks for that exhaustive list. A dropping jaw is pretty much the only appropriate reaction to seeing all those titles collected together in one list. The only thing dropping farther than my jaw will be my bank account balance. :D

Just gotta comment on this one:

BRING IT ON! I'm already drooling.

Lot of good titles, but the one I'm excited about:
Quick Change
I haven't seen that film in years - it's a great one, and one of Bill Murray's finest hours.

Disappointed to hear about the legal issues delaying the 1996 Hamlet. Just sort them out already and release it.

I'm stunned that the tv series Birds of Prey has no plans for release given the Batman film that is coming up. But I am mainly mentioning this because I think the "1973" date next to that 2003 tv series may be a bit wrong.

Too bad no Looker on DVD either, that's one I'd have liked to see. Susan Dey, Patridge Family, ah...
