Warners-Audio Problems In "The Great Race" and "Wizard Of Oz" (1 Viewer)

It has emerged that the new DVD release of "The Great Race" has an audio problem that totally ruins the opening credits. Boos are supposed to accompany Jack Lemmon's credits and cheers for Tony Curtis. This has been incredibly reversed so it's boos for Curtis and cheers for Lemmon.

Also on the "Wizard Of Oz" the wrong track has been used for the "Jitterbug" supplement. The piano choreography rehearsal track with Donna Massin standing in for Judy Garland has been inexplicably used instead of the full, final version intended for the film with orchestra and full cast.

I believe these discs should be corrected so that customers can enjoy these the way they should be enjoyed. The more serious problem is in "The Great Race" where the film itself is literally ruined by this glitch whereas the "Wizard Of Oz" problem is in a supplement albeit a problem that forces me to rely solely on the old "Ultimate Oz" Laser Disc boxed set for whenever I want to enjoy the supplementary material.

If The Wizard of Oz is ever to be redone, it should include the original mono soundtrack.

Also, I believe it would be prudent to do it as a 2 disc set. I suspect some of the picture noise that is particularly prevalent on Dorothy's dress (more so during the Kansas sequences) is attributable to packing too much onto one disc.

I would also recommend bringing back John Fricke's commentary track from the Ultimate Oz LD set too and indeed moving the documentary and addtional supplements to a second disc.

John Fricke is a close friend of mine, and I agree that his audio commentary track should be included. Perhaps with digital technology, the Technicolor shrinkage could be eliminated and the film could be more properly framed (like the original MGM DVD release.)

I just purchased The Great Race earlier this evening, and I too noticed this glaring error in the opening titles' soundtrack. (If you want to hear the cheering and booing in the correct order, switch over to the French language track and check it out.) I cannot believe that the Warner Brothers (Stan and Reg) could have screwed this up so terribly. If they ever fix it, I shall demand an exchange.

Yes, I posted about that bouncing ball in the Great Race thread....thanks for bringing it up here, too.
That certainly is a glaring error, and I can't think how it slipped by them.
