Warners are issuing a whole slew of classics in 2-packs on October 12, some titles quite recently released, some not released yet! They're already on pre-order at dvdvpacific.com at $18.49 plus postage and deepdiscount at arounda dollar more:

    Jailhouse Rock/Viva Las Vegas
    Goodbye Mr Chips (1939)/Mrs Miniver
North By Northwest/Dial M For Murder
Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory/ The Wizard Of Oz
    On The Town/Brigadoon
A Night At The Opera/A Day At The Races
    Singin' In The Rain/Music Man
    Victor Victoria/Cabaret
Anchors Aweigh/Take Me Out To The Ball Game
    Now Voyager/Mildred Pierce
    Ziegfeld Girl/Broadway Melody Of 1938
    Calamity Jane/Pajama Game
    Gypsy/Auntie Mame
    The Great Ziegfeld/42nd Street
    The Women/Philadelphia Story
    Kiss Me Kate/High Society
Mr Blanding Builds His Dream House /Arsenic And Old Lace
    Les Girls/Silk Stockings
To Have & Have Not/Dark Passage
For Me & My Gal/In The Good Old Summertime
My Favorite Wife/Bachelor & The Bobbysoxer
Whatever Happened To Baby Jane/Bad Seed
    Annie Get Your Gun/Showboat
    Ben Hur/King Of Kings (1961)
    An American In Paris/Gigi

If you haven't already got it, it might be worth checking out whether the Casablanca/Maltese Falcon includes the 2 disc SE of the former (though I doubt it...)

These are just being sold with one of those cardboard bands slapped around the indivdual snappers in a discount offer or they're actually being repackaged as double-features?

I'd guess that it's a good bet that it's the former...

A lot of those titles are keepcase-clad (Dial M For Murder, Mr. Blandings, The Bad Seed, etc), but many are also snapper-clad....

It looks like this may be a good chance to get keepcase versions of a lot of these.

What would insinuate that these aren't being reissued in their old generic snapper cases Patrick?

I don't know how much this applies but I saw New Line's Platinum Edition of Blade in Best Buy for 10.00 and it was packaged in a keepcase. I almost picked it up as I have the original snapper.

Well, I definitely hope that's the case.

I'd especially love to replace my Willy Wonka Special Edition!

It would look really weird to package snappers with keepcases. Most multi-title sets I've seen make all the discs have the same packaging. For example, all of the non-Warner titles in the Kubrick, Oliver Stone, and Clint Eastwood boxes are in snappers... despite the separate versions being in keep cases.

Although, I just read in the Elvis thread that they put snapper versions of Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas with the otherwise keepcase-clad majority.

I have seen several of these in a store (I think Sam's Club) already, packed side by side. In cases where a 2-disc is available, the older 1 disc was included.

    Sorry Patrick, I'm confused...

Which non-WB Kubrick, Stone and Eastwood titles. for example, are being packaged in keepcases despite being previously available in snappers?

My copy of Dr. Strangelove isn't a snapper, though I'm not sure if the version in the boxset is a snapper.
