Your link doesn't work, plus this is nothing new considering that Blockbuster and Warner has been at war for the last 3 years or so.

Lieberfarb and VOD might kill Blockbuster and Hollywood video, as well as the crappy MOM&POPs, but I doubt it will end stores that have good catalogue selection.

Can you summarize the article for those of us who don't want to register and get a bunch of spam?

As Jan indicated, some of us don't want to register whether it's free or not.

It's not Warner...it's the AOL empire trying to build on their "content" for online broadband and cable services

Well, sure. I was simply noting that the link does work.
The gist of the article: Lieberfarb listed "Replace video rental business and create higher margin alternative to VHS rental." as the first bullet point for 'Business Goals' at an investors' conference. Theatrical grosses are up, but rental revenue is down. Lieberfarb is pushing for video on demand. MGM is also confident that VOD will prove to be a big moneymaker, offering better profit margins than the 58% they're reaping with DVD sales. Blockbuster and Movie Gallery disagree.
We'd all heard about Lieberfarb's push for lower priced catalog titles, but it's mentioned in this article that he also wants new releases to be more expensive, however slightly.
