Excellent news! I saw a clip of 'McCabe and Mrs Miller' on tv the other day and was wondering when we'd see it on dvd. Can't wait to hear Leonard Cohen in 5.1!

She Wore a Yellow Ribbon will look beautiful on DVD.

The restored version has appeared on AMC and the color is flawless and there's almost no flaws in the print. The sound is pretty good, too....and this is just a satellite feed!

This is more than I had hoped for. From http://dvdfile.com/software/dvd-vide....html#02126002
It's gonna be a western roundup from Warner on 6/4. Long-awaited by fans, Robert Altman's McCabe & Mrs. Miller finally comes to DVD complete with a newly remastered anamorphic widescreen transfer and 5.1 remix, audio commentary with director Robert Altman and producer David Foster, an all-new full-length documentary, still gallery, and trailers. John Wayne also returns on 6/4 in She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, featuring a new 1.33:1 full screen transfer, English and French mono tracks, exclusive John Ford Home Movies, extensive production notes on Ford and Wayne, and trailers. Retail is $19.95 each.
    Thanks Warner!

I'm with you on this one. I knew MCCABE was coming at some point, but I had no idea when and with what supplements. And what supplements!

At a recent Film Forum (NYC) weekend-long revival of MCCABE and THE LONG GOODBYE--the theater was packed for each show and the standby line was as long as I've ever seen it. So, I'd say Warner really got it right this time. Now, if MGM could get on THE LONG GOODBYE...

And I wish I knew when Paramount had earmarked DON'T LOOK NOW for release. The more Christie and Altman, the merrier!

Two must buys for me. I'm especially looking forward to She Wore A Yellow Ribbon because I've heard the restoration looks incredible.
It will be interesting to see McCabe And Mrs. Miller on DVD because the film has always had a grainy, overly dark look to it and I suspect that those not familiar with the original theatrical exhibition may be less than pleased with the transfer however accurate.

I have somehow never seen "McCabe & Mrs. Miller" - I have something of a Warren Beatty aversion, I guess. "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" is a must buy for me and I am hoping that it looks as good as rumor has it.

    Regards,

I have the German R2 of She Wore A Yellow Ribbon and the picture quality is truly spectacular. I believe the movie was fully restored a couple of years ago and it shows. If the R1 uses the same restored print you'll be in for a treat.
Looking forward to McCabe And Mrs Miller. A sure buy for me. I do wish that Warner would speed up its releases of classic movies though - such a large catalogue and only a few releases every year [IMG]

Jon - Mr. Blythe has said that, although DON'T LOOK NOW has been bumped from it's original May release date, Paramount still hope to get this out by year's end.

Definitely looking forward to "...Yellow Ribbon". This is, of course, part of John Ford's calvery trilogy. Have the other two movies in this trilogy been released on DVD yet? John Ford is one of my all-time favorite directors.

These are two SUPER classics that I've been eagerly awaiting ever since buying a dvd player. I'm am utterly thrilled with both, thanks to Warner Bros.

I have a question though, about Warner Bros.

Does anyone know any tentative dates for the following films to get a dvd release from Warner?

    Swing Time

    Yankee Doodle Dandy

    Blowup

    Greed

    King Kong
