I am with you Chuck, I want to see Gremlins 2 on DVD aswell.
They are re-releasing Gremlins 1 which is not such a good idea, because they could have re-released Gremlins 1 with Gremlins 2 in a 2 pack or released Gremlins 2 on the same date as Gremlins.
I am sure we will get Gremlins 2 released Eventually.
Regards,
Ricky

Warner desperately needs to release Gremlins 2 on DVD. It's a shame it isn't coming out with Gremlins this month.

Warner could have at least remastered Gremlins instead of reissuing the same disc with new cover art. As far as the that transfer goes..well...I can't believe it's not poop.
As far as Gremlins 2: The New Blood goes...oops, I got my sequels mixed up..come on, Warner, release it already!

Gremlins 2 is a rare sequel indeed, in that not only is it as good a film as the original, but it's an entirely different genre!
Well, not entirely. But I'd classify the first one as a light horror flick with humor while the sequel is just pure comic mayhem.
I would definitely pick up both of these titles...when the right versions come along!

If Warner does release Gremlins 2 on DVD, it should include seamless branching where you can choose to watch the following scene:
- The theatrical version in which Hulk Hogan kicks some Gremlin ass. :)
- The video version with John Wayne and the VHS tape going haywire.
- A newly filmed scene dealing with a DVD going haywire due to the Gremlins, such as: compression artifacts, skipping, freezing, etc.

Matthew, I really like your ideas, except the last one where the Gremlins mess up the disc with pixelation and such. You see I have the infamous Panasonic A-110, and it was an absolute monster until I got the firmware upgraded on it last year, and it's been fine since. If I see those things you mentioned again, I might get shell shocked and smash the living shit out of it like I came so close to doing in the past!

Matthew, I agree.
Count me in for this one, but only if Hulk Hogan is put back in the film. He's in the credits in the VHS version, but was cut from it. I plainly remember him being in the movie when I saw it at theaters. I love the Gremlins movies, so hopefully Warner Bros. will release special editions of them both.

One of the rare occasions I would openly welcome gremlins into my home, and all of their dye-ah-boh-lickal sab-o-tah-jee. And while there's time, please, get Dante, Dick Miller, and Christopher Lee in the studio and let them go wild!

The laserdisc has the theatrical version with the film breaking; I've never seen the VHS version but it's funny they released that letterboxed but changed one of the best parts of the movie!

I heard in an interview Joe Dante said both Gremlins and Gremlins 2 had been re-mastered for DVD but WB was just letting them sit on the shelf.
Dante said if he ever gets Gremlins and Gremlins 2 on DVD, he'll include lots of special features. I really love your early idea of there being a special DVD feature for Gremlins 2, another special feature is I'd love it if they included the original Gremlins 2 script by Terry Jones which everybody is said to have wanted filmed but couldn't because of money problems.
I love both Gremlins & Gremlins 2 having them both on VHS and I want Warners to know I'd only sell them to get Gremlins and Gremlins 2 on DVD if both DVDs are packed to the hilt with extras such as director's commentary, and behind-the-scenes information and trailers plus widescreen anamorphic picture.
Let Warners get Joe Dante to work on the DVDs for Gremlins and Gremlins 2 so he can make a DVD us fans can be proud of and will pay much money to buy ;-)

Gremlins 2 was on Tv a while back and that version also had Hulk Hogan.
That's cause the television version of the film uses the theatrical cut of the film and not the video cut.

So sad. In light of recent event's at Warner, I fear they will be full frame only.
