    Hi all.

I was told about the Warner chat around the time of the Fox one. If memory serves correctly it was supposed to happen around the 25th. The thing is, I haven't heard a thing since and so I've begun to wonder if it's still happening...

Any clarification would be much appreciated [IMG].

Very very cool. I'm going to take a day off from work just to be there. At the very least I hope to have a chance to express my thanks to Warner for their excellent DVDs.

We were going to post this over the next
day or two but I'll announce it here first.....

The chat will happen on Monday March 8th.

It will be 3 hours in length and will begin
    at 5pm PST, 6pm MST, 7pm CST, 8pm EST (1 hour
    earlier than normal).

The entire core of Warner DVD brass will be
on hand to talk with all of you.

Those of you that attended last year's chat
know that Warner was very loose-lipped about
what was on the horizon, and even gave us
    some exclusive announcements.

They are VERY excited about talking with us.

    They really dig these chats!

I love the Warner DVD folks, last year's chat was fantastic. Maybe I can join live this time instead of just reading the transcript.

What gets me is in the last chat, they asked if anyone wanted "flat comedies" (Vacation, etc...) in OAR and there was a RESOUNDING yes, so they released them finally as such, then they go and pull this stunt with MAR'd Police Academy items... Just doesn't make sense (especially when view in conjunction with the Willy Wonka debacle...). Short memories these guys have...

I hope somebody participating in the chat will
express to the Warner Brothers big wigs how much
us DVD collectors HATE the snapper cases, and maybe
get them to answer the question of why they keep
putting those f**king things out. They do a good
job with their film releases, but those snappers
    have got to go. [IMG]

Not all DVD collectors because in my collection of 2400 dvds, I like snappers.

    ...and please refrain from discussing
the questions you are going to ask Warner within
this thread or anywhere else on the forum.

These chats are supposed to be spontaneous and
I don't want to give any studio preparation material.

    Thank You

I don't mean to start a flame war or anything, but you are in the vast minority. Their parent - AOL - won't use them. Their corporate siblings - HBO, New Line Cinema, etc... - that had used them previously refuses to use them any longer. Previous corporate partners that once used them - Image, Goodtimes - refuses to use them any longer. Why? Because of the horrendous backlash of complaints from their customers. Current corporate partners - NFL, MLB, BBC, etc.. - refuses to use them. That in itself ought to say something!

Then there is Australia - that wonderful land down under... it got so bad that Warner had to make a public stance NOT to use them any longer, and even gave out free replacement coverart to those wishing to put their DVD's in keepsake cases from the abominations that they were in previously - SNAPPERS!

Now, Europe no longer has to deal with these atrocities!

When in God's name are we in the Region 1 going to get the same consideration? After all, more of our money flows through to you for those shiny discs than the rest of the world. Why do you continue to disrepect your customers so? You have even admitted in online reports that you freely admit to receiving MANY complaints with regards to snappers... so why the holdback...?

Warner, your customers deserve an answer! (and better yet, a switch!)

They already have their prepared answers to cover this topic, and have used it MANY times:

"We take it on a case-by-case basis".

Considering the level of pure hatred that so many have exhibited towards the Snapper, it's the chicken-sh*t way of answering it if you ask me...

I would choose to focus on what Warner is doing RIGHT ("snappers" aren't my favorite packaging, but their use would NEVER prevent me from buying an otherwise great release):

Over the last year especially, they have moved to the forefront of the major studios, with well-designed, well-executed releases (particularly of their back-catalog titles). Witness that HTF members voted them the Best Studio of 2003.

The Warner execs were very relaxed and forthcoming at the last HTF chat, and I can't wait to hear what they have in store for the rest of the year.

I would ask that stickies announcing chats be available in all forums, since I'm sure most of us do not go through the home page, but bookmark our favorite forums instead.
