Broadway Melody of 1940 starring Fred Astaire, High Society with Bing Crosby and chairman of the board Frank Sinatra, Kiss Me Kate, Gene Kelly's Les Girls and Silk Stockings with Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse. High Society, Silk Stockings, and Les Girls feature new anamorphic transfers while Kiss Me Kate and Broadway Melody of 1940 come in their original fullscreen ratios. All also feature Dolby 5.1 audio tracks (except for Broadway Melody of 1940, which comes DD Mono). No extras from the looks of it. Retail is $19.98 each.

    Oh yes, there are extras....

It has already been announced elsewhere that each of these 5 films has a "making of" docu, plus short subjects that relate to the feature. I don't recall more details than that, but I'm sure others here are likely aware of them.

I don't like the sound of Academy Ratio stuff being cropped! Anamorphic...? [IMG] Has the opposite of P & S-ing begun?

Rachael, LES S and SILK STOCKINGS are presented in their OARs of 2.35:1, while HIGH SOCIETY will be in the correct widescreen ratio of 1.85:1. The other two films are the only ones that were filmed in the Academy ratio (1.37:1) and the DVDs will be in the shown correctly in full-frame.

One thing to note however, is that KISS ME KATE was originally shown in 3-D, but I doubt they will be including that version on the disc, unfortunately! [IMG]

High Society was filmed in VistaVision, so 1.78:1 is correct for DVD (it just has to be between 1.66:1 and 1.96:1).
