This 1927 version of The Jazz Singer was made several times, but this was a major industry innovator by introducing the possibilites that voice had to offer in a silent movie world. True, there was always the orchestral accompaniment, but he addition of voices was like 4K is today!! Once that box was opened, there was no turning back...and understanding the times in which this film was done, helps to soften the campy "black face" treatment used in the film. Yet you can't denigh the Powerhouse talent of the great Al Jolson!!
Release by Warner Archives, I never saw it and wondered if anyone bought this 3 disc BRD Book version? And any thoughts on the quality. and bonus materials being offered in it?
