Anyone else think it a little odd that WAC hasn't put a pre-order link up yet for a title supposedly being released by the end of this month? Usually, WAC's releases come out second or third week of the month. We're already into week 2 of April. Thoughts?

Yeah, something is going on as I update the Amazon Pre-Order Listing in my signature on a daily basis. It's not just "Summer Stock" which should be released on April 30th, but also "A Patch of Blue" and "Frankenstein 1970" which is supposed to be released today. Also, it's not just Amazon, but other retailers too.

The Great Ziegfeld on DVD had moments of inconsistent clarity and a few instances of haloing, but otherwise looked more than presentable for a basic Blu-ray clean-up and release. We need this one in hi-def - a cultural touchstone in musicals in many ways. I would also add, the Astaire/Rogers catalog, and the Busby Berkeley films to this list of 'must haves' and the various Broadway Melody installments too. Deteriorating quality is not a reason to simply forget about a release entirely until the day comes when no such preservation will even be possible. It's not an option, folks.

Thanks for the update. I thought something was remiss. Perhaps, all of them have merely been pushed back to next month, RE: replication errors, or other production delays.

PS - just checked WAC's Facebook and NO updates there since their initial March 19th post announcing all of April's pending titles. Hmmmm.

Well, I thought I saw Summer Stock, Frankenstein 1970 and Shameless: Season 9 listed on the wbshop, with their correct dates (no sign of A Patch Of Blue, however, so I suspect that one has been delayed).

You are correct in that all the titles except A Patch of Blue appear on the Warner Archive site. I just ordered Summer Stock and Frankenstein 1970 this morning.

Screen Archives has pre-order links for Summer Stock and Frankenstein 1970 posted right now. Nothing yet on Patch of Blue.

Why do I feel like the majority of us could have some pretty epic movie nights?

I may be late to the game on this but is Amazon fighting with Warner now? Where do we order these Archive titles?

I'm glad about that. Judy certainly deserves top billing.

I finally received my Blu-ray copy of Summer Stock from Amazon today and watched it tonight. I already had the HD stream from iTunes which I had watched several times in the last few months, so I was eager to make comparisons.

The Blu-ray disc is a slightly cleaner and crisper image, and just from memory, I believe it's a little brighter, too. Both display all of the movie's high points with great aplomb, but there was no way I wasn't going to buy a Judy Garland film that is on Blu-ray. How else will Warners know we want more of them?

Thank you for pointing that out. I've never actually ordered from DD before. I note they have a lot of things that amazon apparently can't be bothered with these days. And some things were cheaper, too. I ordered Summer Stock, then I ordered Shameless season 9 blu-ray, which is also from Warners and also says "will ship in 1-2 months" or some such.

I chose free shipping on DD...does anyone know how long that is? Because it didn't say. I'm assuming it will be media mail, therefore 7-10 days or so.

It depends on how far you live from Louisville, KY. My last several orders from Deep Discount took 4-5 days to arrive here in Michigan.
