Because Dionne Warwick is alive!
Who wants to see a movie with all dead people?
(As my sister once said to me.)
The Regency, which I loved, was located near my office so it was easy to catch a double feature after work. An early victim of VHS home video, it was a sad day when it was sold to Cineplex Odeon as a single screen first run theater which soon failed. 1987. Can't believe it happened over 30 years ago.The Regency was one of New York's greatest pleasures for a movie lover in the 70s and 80s. The most popular movies were events with lines stretching both north and south Broadway. It might have been an old run down west side cinema but it was run with a lot of love and God bless Frank Rowley wherever he may be. One of the people who made New York a great city in a way it hasn't been since.
