Did European aristocrat Claus von Bulow (Jeremy Irons) try to murder his wife, Sunny (Glenn Close), at their luxurious Newport mansion in 1980? Tabloids of the day had their opinions. “You have one thing in your favor,” defense attorney Alan Dershowitz (Ron Silver) told von Bulow. “Everybody hates you.” Written for the screen by Nicholas Kazan (Fallen, At Close Range), directed by Barbet Schroeder (Single White Female) and based on Dershowitz’s book, Reversal of Fortune is the acclaimed filmization of events that had all of America talking. For his precise portrait of icy brittleness, Irons won the Best Actor Academy Award®* as well as the Los Angeles and National Society of Film Critics Awards. Think you know the truth? Until you watch…you have no idea.

Another excellent offering from WAC

Funny thing, as it was only a month ago that I had looked up this film to see if there was a BD available for purchase. And now there is.:thumbs-up-smiley:

Been at the top of Metacritic for as long as they have been online and nigh impossible to find anywhere, before this announcement. Splendid.

I did post a few times about hoping to see this on Blu-ray especially since it's the film's 30th anniversary. Great performances by Jeremy Irons and Ron Silver.

Felicity Huffman plays one of Silver’s assistants, I think.
You are correct. Huffman portrayed. Minnie. And with a film credit such as this, one would’ve thought that she could’ve captured the real-life Alan Dershowitz for her own defense. Ah, well, only in the movies.

Warner Archives typically carries over whatever bonus features were present on the prior DVD release but generally does not create new bonus material.

100% OVER THE MOON for this release. Cannot wait. Ironically, we watched the horrendously awful DVD just the other night, praising the performances, but poo-pooing the transfer. I feel a re-screening coming on. Tune in, in October!

Yes Dolores Claiborne is an example- they carry over the commentary from the DVD, but there’s no new supplements.

I have many, MANY reasons to loathe the original "Lion King" with a murderous passion.
Borrowing Jeremy Irons' line for a cheap self-aware pop-culture-overquoted gag is not #1, but it's in the top 5.
You must be the only one.

You must be the only one.

Talk to Japanese-anime fans sometime.
(And then try the one about "Why would Disney want to do a version of Hamlet?", that one always goes over.)

Keeping it back on Fortune, watching the One Overexposed Line enter the unseen-quote pantheon alongside Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise lines, takes away too much from Irons' scene in the movie.
He's deliberately charming Silver with his class divisions, even while aware that the bizarre Soap-Opera Life of the Rich & Famous isn't helping his own defense case any.
