I'm seeing $17.99 but currently Free Shipping so pretty good total.
Are you really seeing 16 somehow?

My bad as the price I was referring to was for the DVD version at $16.01 but the shipping is really making this deal a bad one at that, but here's the link...https://www.walmart.com/ip/Popeye-40s-Volume-3-1941-1943-DVD/394684447

The Blu-Ray version but again, the shipping just makes this deal look awful...https://www.walmart.com/ip/Popeye-40s-Volume-3-1941-1943-Blu-ray/632402784

And David, it's only Free delivery/shipping on $35+ orders.

What Volume 4? Nothing has been announced regarding something like that as if the 1950s shorts start to come out, wouldn't it be referred to as Popeye: The 1950s Volume 1? Just asking.

It is now, but it was Free Shipping (no limit) Monday night. It's common for Walmart Preorders to have Free Shipping right up until Live Date. I didn't notice when it changed, but when I posted it was actually FS even on $18 order.

You can see it on next Tuesday release. I can't remember if it's just certain preorders or all,

Got this from B&N Friday finally. Another slam-dunk restoration wise, even if this is where the cartoons take a nosedive. The two-color of "A Wolf in Sheik's Clothing" looks strange, reminiscent of an Ub Iwerks Cinecolor cartoon. I have a 16mm print that has better range, even if it's faded, but I have no doubt WAC did their best on an impossible time crunch.

The colors can be forgiven, given that the negative had deteriorated and was partially missing.

Again, look at the the Brothers Grimm thread to see what happens when original elements are too far gone for restoration to be feasible.

If they do release a 1950s volume, I hope they include The Ace in Space in 3D.

Hello all,

In case you missed it, Jerry Beck was the guest on last Wednesday's edition of Stu's Show. He said that the Popeye releases are taking a break for the moment, so don't expect a Warner Archive 1950's Popeye Blu-ray to be released in the next few months. Jerry did say there will be a new animated Warner Archive Blu-ray release in February, but didn't say what it was.

BTW, I just published on the web my review of the Popeye 1940s Volume 3 Blu-ray. Here's the link:

Happy holidays,
Marshall
