Ruth Chatterton's portrayal of the wife who refuses to grow old is her finest hour on screen. Too bad her career was practically over.

Great news! I guess I can delete my TCM copy of Dodsworth from my DVR now that I can have a sterling copy on disc.

While it is great, many would argue for BULL DURHAM...

Many want to compare that overrated Bum actor with Gary Cooper ???? He couldn't shine his shoes.

Let's not turn this thread into a Kevin Costner vs. Gary Cooper discussion especially due to neither being in "Dodsworth".

Very excited to hear about this! I love this film and have not seen it in years, and never in the pristine form that WAC typically delivers.

The great classics are beginning to flow from the Archive. These three make my month and year so far. Will Barbary Coast, Arrowsmith and Come and Get It be coming our way someday, too?

Always good to hear about another 1930s film getting the blu treatment from WAC.

One of the masterpieces of the 1930s American cinema. I loved it when i was 20 years old and came across it by accident, unaware of who these lead actors even were...and now that I'm 50 the story it tells resonates even more. (and now I adore Huston, Chatterton, and Astor...who all literally elevate every movie they appear in). Cant wait to get this!

Is it known if work is being done to restore other Samuel Goldwyn films? Have others been completed? As Warner Bros only has home video rights to these films, they did not do the restoration work on "Dodsworth". Rather then just name favorite Goldwyn films it would be nice to know what films are in condition to be released on blu ray.

Its fun to spot David Niven and John Payne, billed as John Howard Payne, in early roles in "Dodsworth".

I did not end up deleting the TCM presentation I had recorded on my DVR and I watched it tonight. Looked beautiful (a couple of skipped frames, but that might have been a glitch in the transmission). I hadn't watched this movie in a long, long time, and I was especially impressed this time around with Mary Astor's vivacious performance. She makes every scene count.

I’m to point that TMC does not show the the new transfer until after WAC releases the Blu-ray.

I doubt TCM shows this new transfer even after the WAC Blu-ray release. They've kept such new transfers from even being available for purchase on iTunes and Vudu.
