Coming from the Warner Archive Collection on November 26th!

THE COMPLETE THIN MAN COLLECTION (1934-47)
A 6 DISC SET (all BD-50s)
B&W
Aspect ratio: 16x9 1.37:1
Audio: DTS HD MA 2.0 MONO
Subtitles English SDH
Starring William Powell and Myrna Loy

Now they're together in one Blu-ray collection! The sparkling M-G-M series featured the irresistible William Powell and Myrna Loy chemistry as husband and wife who solved murders with the aid of their wire-haired terrier, Asta. Set in the glamorous world of 1930s and 40s upper-class Manhattan, The Thin Man and its sequels established a timeless standard for witty comedy, clever dialogue and urbane one upmanship. The 6-Disc set includes THE THIN MAN (1934), AFTER THE THIN MAN (1936), ANOTHER THIN MAN (1939), SHADOW OF THE THIN MAN (1941), SONG OF THE THIN MAN (1944) and THE THIN MAN GOES HOME (1947). Each film has been meticulously remastered and restored for Blu-ray, from 4K scans of the best surviving preservation elements. Additionally, each feature in the collection is accompanied by its original theatrical trailer, plus vintage short subjects and animated cartoons to help re-create the way these films were first presented in theaters upon their original release. It’s an essential collection of screen classics that belong in every serious film lover’s library.

Another collection of previously released archive titles bundled together. That is OK by me. They will probably be cheaper than the individual releases for those who waited.

What’s the point of this boxset when most fans of this movie series already have the previously released Blu-rays?

That was my initial thought when I saw this announcement

All these titles are already available and most fans own them all

And for selfish reasons, this may take the place of something better that could have been announced today.

However, professionally, I'll say that I'm happy for anyone who doesn't own these films and would rather opt for a boxed set.

All I'm saying, when I said it was a possibility, is even every once in awhile a blind squirrel finds a nut.

Just wish for those of us that have collected everything individually there would be the option to just get the slip and I can buy my own six disc case.

Were the original releases all BD-50s? Just asking because the press release mentions that they are in this release.

I, too, bought the individual releases. I wasn't about to wait on them as it's a favorite series. I'd love to have one of those compact cases though...

I think you both are forgetting a few important details. For one thing, the last two Novembers were marked by zero* releases from WAC due to production problems (*= last year, we got a few titles that were originally announced as October releases but later delayed). As we have been told, they have still been having production problems throughout this year. I don't think this release takes the spot of anything else, because all the discs were already replicated. Unless the production problems are being caused by the packaging, this set *should* actually be easy to get out on time (compared to all the recent titles that keep getting delayed). WAC did this in 2018 (when the replication plant closed) with their Bogart/Bacall set and in 2020 (when the pandemic closed down the film labs and storage facilities) with the three 4-film sets they released that year. It's an easy way to get just one more release out there (particularly something that some fans have been requesting) without using up the resources that a completely new release would require.

I’m not forgetting anything because I figured that was the reason why they released this boxset because it’s the only thing that made sense to me.

Are these the same rip as presented in the individual Thin Man releases earlier this year? I went bought each one individually, hoping that I didn't pull the trigger too soon!!!
