Thanks Clark for the news about the Amazon pre-order going live! I just hit that pre-order button as fast as I could with my arthritic flying finger of fate!

And at a great pre-order price of only $62.09! For a nine disc Blu-ray set remastered to a state-of-the-art from vault OCN, that is amazing! And as I'm in Dogpatch North (Canada), their shipping costs to me here are more than reasonable!

On to the Yukon Goldrush with Silky, Rocky, Reno, Nifty and Pierre! I hope to cozy up with lovelies Rocky (Dorothy Provine), Kerano (Andra Martin), Ellen (Karen Steele) and Alabama (Ruta Lee) on some cold Gold Rush nights soon!

Placed a pre-order with Amazon, and it was going to be shipped out in mid-July, but now I found out in the latest e-mail that I'll receive the set around August 27th. The cost is 73.84, sales tax included, Prime shipping is free!

It looks like the release date has been moved again to August 27th. It's not just an Amazon issue. Also, the price on Amazon dropped to $62.92 right now so you might be getting it cheaper than the price you noted.

By the way, there appears to be some discrepancy to the release date change. Amazon and Movie Zyng are showing August 27th while Deep Discount and Movies Unlimited are showing August 13th. Either way, the release date is now in August.

Thanks for the update about the change in release date. Bummer about the delay, though. More back-ups at the replicating plant, perhaps?

I was hoping to have this arrive at my family's home in time for my Stateside visit in early August. Guess I'll have to try and change my Movies Unlimited order to international shipping instead (which will of course jack up the price). Oh well, that's the way it goes. Better late than never.

I think the next classic tv western release by Warners will be Temple Houston.Since both Colt .45 and the Alaskans had previously never appeared on dvd. and that would continue the pattern. And that will be it for 2024.Maverick will probably be ' the popular show already released on dvd and then I hope Lawman followed by Cheyenne in 2025.I like Sugarfoot better than Bronco.Maybe even The Dakotas in 2026:)

TEMPLE HOUSTON is probably the least remembered WB western. It was not even mentioned in the Warner Brothers Television Book written in the 90s. I'd like to see it. I don't recall watching it originally.

My thinking is now that WAC will stick with single season shows. So the popular show already released on DVD could be THE DAKOTAS (not popular on original broadcast but maybe did well on DVD) or THE ADVENTURES OF BRISCO COUNTY, JR, (starring Bruce Campbell, popular cult figure).

For a show never released, I like to see WAC go to the MGM holdings and do the NORTHWEST PASSAGE-1958 series, 26 'half-hour' episodes in color.

In the past, WAC has given, the now Alliance sites, exclusivity release windows, so that Aug. 13 date is probably true for MoviesUnlimited, DeepDiscount, Critic's Choice, and Importcds.

I don't remember it, but the series only ran one season 1964-1965.

You might like to order the book Temple Houston, a Story of Network Television, a series picked up by NBC to replace The Robert Taylor Show from Four Star, because the network execs were displeased the episodes weren't based on a actual cases taken from the Department of Health Education and Welfare, so it was canceled after four episodes which never saw the light of day!

Somebody reviewed the WB book on Amazon and there was nothing on The Dakotas in the book, either.

Not true. THE DAKOTAS does not have a chapter in the Warner Bothers Television book but THE DAKOTAS pilot show is mentioned in the CHEYENNE episode guide, in the book.

THE DAKOTAS pilot is, also, counted as an episode of CHEYENNE at IMDB. It was shown as part of THE CHEYENNE SHOW which was just CHEYENNE and BRONCO that season 1961-62. According to IMDB dates THE DAKOTAS pilot was shown between the last two new episodes of BRONCO.

My favorite on the Dakotas is J.D. Smith Jack Elam for sure then Del Stark/Chad Everett who was very good in the 1967 film 'The Last Challenge' where he goes up against Glenn Ford.Hmmm I wonder who will win? Elam was also in that movie as well as Angie Dickinson,I have the movie in HD bought on Amazon.

FWIW, someone who claims to be in the know with 'The Extras', Warner Archive's sanctioned information fan group on Facebook, just posted this today...attributing the delay in the street date for The Alaskans to time needed to include bridging segments and bumpers, as seen on original night of first broadcast....

Good news indeed. I think we all would love as many of the intro and outro bumpers, cold opens and next week previews as can be found in Warner's film vaults!

The Dakotas pilot was presented with Dakotas opening credits on the Warner DVD set. I recorded to DVD-R every episode of Cheyenne that Encore Westerns ran, and they skipped The Dakotas episode. I assume it's not syndicated in its original form with the Cheyenne intro and is available only with The Dakotas opening as seen on the latter series' DVD set. I don't believe the Cheyenne DVDs from Warner have that episode with its original Cheyenne opening.

Here are some old low sound YouTube clips from the first episode of THE ALASKANS with the intros, bumpers, original commercials, scenes for next week, etc. plus an ultra rare mid-break bumper that would appear between the commercials.

This clip has a thirty second gap, after the ABC logo, before we see the coming back bumper while somebody was changing reels.

Chesterfield also sponsored the ABC Spring/Summer reruns of STEVE CANYON. These same commercials can be seen restored on the STEVE CANYON DVDs.

My top Warner Archive wants would be, Many Happy Returns, The Little People, Conflict, Kaz and The Islanders.
I wouldn't mind upgrades on some other shows where I'm missing a few episodes, like Adam's Rib, Room for One More, Mr. Roberts, No Time for Sergeants and Cain's Hundred.

I'd forgotten all about No time for Sergeants. No one ever talks about that, I guess.
