Brought in to save the school, he chained the doors to keep troublemakers out and strivers in. Some teachers and parents fought him. But many kids loved him. He turned the school around and his achievement became a national triumph. Morgan Freeman electrifies as Clark in an extraordinary performance as an extraordinary man. Director John G. Avildsen ensures that Lean on Me, like his Rocky and The Karate Kid is rousing, crowd-pleasing entertainment.
