The president of Tredway Corp. has unexpectedly died. Long live the new president. But who will the exec be? There’s no official line of succession…and so the shady deals and insider backstabbing begin. Boardroom and boudoir politics play out in this star-packed tail of corporate machinations directed by the great Robert Wise (The Sound of Music, The Set-Up). A bottom line opportunist (Fredric March), and an idealistic manufacturing VP (William Holden) emerge as leading candidates for the top post. But while power-suited men maneuver, a woman (Barbara Stanwyck) may have the most clout. She’s the founder’s daughter and the company’s major stockholder…and may be the velvet power behind the Tredway throne.

Seen this a few times when it's broadcast on TCM and liked the film and will buy the Blu-ray. Nice to see a commentary on it.

Also, finally in widescreen. The TCM broadcast's PQ is mediocre at best.

The commentary was already on the DVD. They're just porting it over. But yes, it's nice that it's on there.

My DVD copy of Executive Suite is starting to go bad during the last minutes of the film, so this is another day-one purchase.

IMDb says my grandpa played an uncredited reporter in this, but I have yet to spot him. Maybe the higher res will make that a little clearer.

This is a superb film all round, produced by the estimable John Houseman. It has an excellent screenplay by one of the best screen writers ever, Ernest Lehman who, of course, worked with Robert Wise again a few years later. All the very formidable cast do well, including June Allyson in a part she was born to play. I have this film on DVD within a Barbara Stanwyck box-set but I'll have no hesitation upgrading.

This is going to be a great release, another DVD from the list of ones that are no longer playing and is being upgraded in its OAR! I really think George has been reading the threads about DVDs that stopped playing. These are exciting times as a collector!
