Living outside of the United States, I was able to order "Words and Music" and "Three Little Words" today. I choosed the AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping at a cost of $21.46. Estimated tax to be collected: $14.26 and a grand total of $82.20. The items are now in stock but I will have to wait the end of October to get the package. First time I have to wait so long.

Yep, that was my due date too. Not impressed by the delays. They're not just a few weeks but a few months. These were Aug. catalog. Now, they're expected to arrive just before Nov. So, Sept. catalog? Expect it by Christmas...perhaps. And let's not even talk Nov./Dec. catalog due dates.

It's out of WA's control and you won't hear me complain about the delays. The only options right now are for them to continue to let us know what is ahead for release with a best guess arrival date or to simply not share what is upcoming and wait until the discs are pressed and ready to ship before announcing to spare disappointment over possible/likely delays. I think given this reality, we'd all prefer announcements continue to be made as they are currently being handled.

That said, I already have it in my mind that the next wave of release announcements (for November) will most likely the the last we see ship this year.

I wouldn't rule out the December releases. One of the problems we are facing for the next few months is the holidays, with everybody bringing out their big guns (particularly in time for November). Most of the labels tend to release less in December, which *should* help WAC out that month. Of course, we're also assuming that WAC actually announces anything for release in November (something they didn't do the last two years).

Unfortunately, WA doesn't do Blu-ray boxsets of individual titles. Frankly, their monthly output makes such a release strategy not feasible because right now, they're only releasing 5-6 titles each month.
Box sets ... no? Rare as they are, but there has been a couple of space saving reissues where seperate releases were place together

Rare as they are, who knows what could happen in the future, adjusting for releases that WAC has already released or announced. Could we see another 2-3-4 or more film noir collections? There are enough single releases that it could be a possibility more than a few times over. All of the Hollywood legends of Horror in one single release? All of the Powell/Loy Thin Man Series in the same case, with a front cover like this

the industry has chanced so much since the beginning of home theater enthusiast and evolves more each day, that you can't count out anything anymore. P.S. shelf space is sometimes an issue, but not at the point of hindering a great WAC release. If anyone from the Archive is reading. :thumbs-up-smiley:

Until I see it with today’s replication issues and reduced retail outlets, I don’t think it’s going to happen in the future. The supply chain mechanism will continue to shrink as the consumer demand shrinks with it.

yep, but most of those are at Moviezyng, and it has been a long time since anything like that has happened.

Agreed that replication is the biggest issue facing the industry, as mot retail for physical media is now 90% online i guess giving Walmart 10% credit is a reach, but they are one of the few who still do physical releases weekly.

Oct gives me a chance to see Bogart in his only Horror film, for that alone i am thankful. And it's been about a year, so hoping the next few months we will hear something about a pre-code that really pushed boundries Tarzan and his Mate.

I remember way back when the 1st Thin Man movie was released on Blu there were some holding out for a box set that was unlikely since WAC very rarely ever does box sets. Now that they have all been released for over 2 years I wonder if people are still waiting.

Those 4 sets were all released 5 years or more. They haven't done a box set since and I doubt they do given their current model of release. Not impossible but very unlikely

I think when I get Return of Dr X and The Walking Dead I might group all my Warner 30s horror Blu-rays together, I don't really need box sets :)

Hey, that's a good idea! Let's hope it happens. As you can probably guess, I like Allison Hayes.
With Tickle Me, Fifty Foot Woman, horror film roles and ubiquitous TV appearances , she has a lot of fans. Let’s hope George Feltenstein reads this and decides to do it!

The Warner Archive box sets referenced were originally released as individual Warner Archive titles and later put together as a box set. That is different from releasing 4 new to blu ray movies as a box set.

Well, we know that at least the Looney Tunes Collectors Choice Vol. 4 is set to be officially announced for November and I would assume there were plans for other titles as well.

I hope you're right and production issues are resolved before the end of the year, but if not, the next batch of announcements will likely be the last to ship in 2024.

We were talking a bit about Lanza so I decided to get the dvd of Seven Hills of Rome. I thought MGM was a CinemaScope studio but this is indeed in Technirama 2.4:1. But being that this was filmed in Europe despite saying A MGM Picture it is also a Le Cloud Production. Maybe Le Cloud made the decision. Just that MGM distributed it?
No mention of stereo just Dolby which I assume they put the mono track through.
