Kael claims to have never seen a movie more than once which I don't understand.
I have changed my opinions on films and why not relive the pleasure of a film which you enjoyed so much? Maybe she just had too many films to see.

She was full of b.s. when (and if) she said that. Read Raising Kane or, better yet, her 500-page book, The Citizen Kane Book. Tell me she only saw CITIZEN KANE once.

Re: Pauline Kael. I think she received attention because she would not hold back and tear apart films that others love. I'm not sure if I would consider her a good critic, but I say that about all the others too. I did not always agree with Siskel & Ebert, but I defended them because I felt they did a great service educating the public about film, and they championed films they thought people should see. Film is subjective, and we all cannot seem the same things.

Re: WAC. I don't find the need to make lists, but I hope that Petulia and I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang are coming at some point.
I'm with you on IAAFFACG. Important film but incredibly well acted/directed/photographed and that ending still packs a punch.

Never wanted to be a (professional) film critic, all that dross and time you'll never get back. As it is I've wasted enough time watching terrible films. Must pull out CK today.
At least if you're a professional film critic you're getting paid to watch those terrible films. It's your "9-5 job" which makes it all worthwhile (something my wife points out with my current job when I complain about meetings, which serve no purpose other than to get everyone together in the same room, I have to attend: "You're getting paid for it so why do you care?"). I'd love to have been paid for the time I've wasted watching terrible films, some of which came very highly rated.

Getting paid to spend time at meaningless meetings isn't a good thing, if it means you have to spend extra, off-hours time getting your actual meaningful work done.

Sidenote: Does WB have a better sounding Music Master Tape of as well as "Ducking the Devil" (heard in the Spanish Dub and PC Vol. 1 "My Favorite Martian" Documentary)

Any more Music Masters from a short in question, (heard briefly on Home Video Bonus Features, Documentary) have any originate from? I'd be glad to hear from you :)

Excuse me, am I going "Nick Redman style" (going to town) on WB Cartoon Music rather than getting to the point? [announcements (curious if there are any rules for wishlists)]

Stay tuned for MGM Cartoons with M&E/Music-Only Track and hopefully some more H&B shows currently incomplete or unreleased on BD (a.k.a. Wishlist Part 2), some other time after a couple of months...

Thank you :)

My "needs" are simple (though there are many others I'll buy for the upgrade or "just because"):

Tarzan and His Mate (and the rest of the Weissmuller Tarzan films)
The remaining Marx Brothers films under Warner's control (Room Service, At the Circus, Go West, The Big Store)
Sinbad the Sailor
Captain Blood (yeah... I know... *somebody* get it released already!)
Looney Tunes Collector's Choice Volume 4 (which I'm pretty sure is coming but isn't happening fast enough for me)
War of the Planets
The Snow Devils
Wild, Wild Planet

Well I certainly can't wait to have Slaughter on 10th Av. on bluray. Just watching the set transform is amazing.
Where did you find out this was going to be released? Kino? I didn't see any list yet for titles coming from their new deal with Universal. Anyway, why is this being mentioned in a thread for Warner titles?

Vincent is referring to the musical number Slaughter on 10th Avenue with Gene Kelly and Vera-Ellen in the upcoming Archive release, Words and Music, not the 1957 Universal film. And he's right. It should look amazing.

Gosh I didn't know there was a film with that title. All I knew of was the Richard Rodgers composition. Otherwise I would have been more specific.

I remember reading in a discussion over at Film Score Monthly that the movie’s actually adapts the Rodgers composition into its score (done by Herschel Burke Gilbert, who also did the adaptation score on Carmen Jones).

Criterion probably decided to do 4K scans which is why it took an extra year or so to release. Great news

With Criterion's announcement today we can cross those two Lewton titles off the list of missing Blu-ray titles.

To be clear, this Criterion October release will include both 4K/UHD and a Blu-ray. The 4K/UHD will only have the movies, but the Blu-ray will have the movies and bonus material.
