If anyone cares, they have improved the pricing to $4.95 and $6.95 (depending on the title) for the upgrades from DVD2BLU at Warners.

They have not sent me a confirmation email in 5 days. I've also "contacted" them about this, leaving a different email address. No contact reply.

As I mentioned earlier, I placed an order but did not receive a shipping label or any kind of confirmation. Eventually, I just placed an identical order. This time, my confirmation/shipping label e-mail arrived quickly. I mailed off my DVDs as instructed.

Warner claimed that they'd send another e-mail when my DVDs arrived, and ship the Blu-rays then, but I never got such an e-mail. The Blu-rays simply arrived a couple of weeks later.

I tried what you did and reordered. they accepted the order, but after several days nothing, i even e-mailed them and asked them to resend the confirmation if they had already sent it. no reply this is like talking to a brick wall.

Just in case people didn't realize that you can send in any DVD that was commercially produced (not DVD copies, or burned DVDs, must be commercially pressed) and take part in the DVD2BLU promotion. So, if you had a title that gave you separate widescreen and fullscreen DVDs of the same title, send in the fullscreen DVD for any blu-ray title that Warner is offering.

^, thats really surprising. did they change this since it started?
In the op here it states that it must be the same movie for same movie.

Also noticed in the rules....

12.
If you are submitting a DVD disc consisting of the DVD version of a Participating Title, and you are selecting the Blu-ray version of the same Participating Title, please note: The Blu-ray version may have different special features and/or bonus material than contained on the DVD version of the Participating Title, including much less or no special features and/or bonus material, and/or the Blu-ray version may have a different aspect ratio (e.g., may be full screen instead of wide screen or vice versa) and/or the Blu-ray version may have a different rating or no rating and/or the Blu-ray version may have a different number of discs.

So I guess you can send in any dvd for any blu-ray.

What about those dvds at the dollar store, are they real dvds?

For "Elf" I returned Disc 2 (Full Screen version) and I got the replacement, no problem. But it does raise the possibility someone could take advantage of the program (give the other disc to a friend so they can exchange as well) at least for that title.

What a great deal! Warner changed this program within the last few days to make it "any" DVD. I was looking at this last week and realized that I'd sold off some of my DVDs that I wanted to upgrade.

Unfortunately, the use of the word "any" on the dvd2blu.com home page is rather misleading. It's not literally "any" DVD, just any DVD that happens to be in the program. At least, that's what it looked like just a moment ago. The FAQ has this item: "No, the DVD2Blu promotion is limited to the titles shown on DVD2Blu.com. We do not currently have any plans to modify the list of eligible titles. However, we reserve the right to do so." For example, "North by Northwest" does not show up in their list of titles.

The FAQ says that you can trade in "any pre-recorded discs that contain professionally produced content purchased at a regular retail or e-commerce store (excluding adult content). "

EDIT. I think I understand what you meant. You can't get "ANY" Blu-Ray disc from Warner. There are over 100 titles available, though... I stocked up on the Kubrick ones, myself.

OK, after re-reading a couple of times, now maybe I think I understand what the deal is. The Blu-rays that you can get are limited to those they list on the dvd2blu site. But the DVDs you send them can be any commercially-produced (non-porn) DVDs. So I could send in something like an Alfred Hitchcock title from Laserlight, and get something completely different, like the complete 8th season of Smallville? If that's true, I'm definitely in!

Wow, obviously they have a stockpile of these blu-rays to unload and not enough people were upgrading with their same-movie DVDs so now they are accepting ANY DVD just to move the product. Great deal!
