OK, all this Pearl Harbour talk has gotten me on a war rampage. Here are some more obscure titles that I'm interested in knowing the DVD quality of etc...
Midnight Clear - Does it even exist????
Paths of Glory - Pan and Scam??? Was it filmed that way?
Tora Tora Tora - Hows the quality and Sound (Especially the SOUND???)
    Stalingrad - Hows the quality???
Iron Cross - Does it exist?
    Any info would be appreciated!

I can only speak for Tora Tora Tora. The picture quality
was superb and the sound was pretty good. The extras however could have been more. All in all, a pretty good
    disk.

The three major FOX war flicks...TORA TORA TORA,PATTON,and THE LONGEST DAY although are very old,had been given the best treatment from FOX,in both audio and visual quality.THE LONGEST DAY may not live up to your expectation,as the film is too old and in black and white.
On the audio side, although all these three films had been given to the remaster of audio, the best audio goes to the DOLBY PRO LOGIC track. The surround channels is not discrete at all.
From MGM,among all their war movie releases,A BRIDGE TOO FAR stands out from the crowd. The DPL track is well presented.
WAR movies made in the 20th century benefits from audio and visual quality. The hottest cake to grab are SAVING PRIVATE RYAN DTS edition and THIN RED LINE DTS edition. The latter have a fullbit rate DTS audio.
As for ENEMY AT THE GATES,due to the original plot of the film which do not have lots of action as most war movie have, looses its audio appeal to numbers of audience. But still a keeper if you are not a hardcore ACTION CRAZY FANATIC!
Not to forget WAR related courtroom dramas,RULES OF ENGAGEMENT and COURAGE UNDER FIRE.The latter comes with an additional half bitrate DTS track that will rock your HT system. Both are notable demo-material.

Here's one that's coming out before the end of the year that may well slip under your radar... Ruscico's upcoming release of Elem Klimov's devastating film about the Nazi invasion of Russia, Come and See. Be forwarned: this is brutal, unflinching stuff. If you're more attuned to something like Pearl Harbor, then this may not be your cup of tea, to say the least.
At any rate, Ruscico has put out some extraordinary discs, all digitally restored and with impressive 5.1 remixes, most notably SOLARIS, THE VIY, ANDREI RUBLEV, etc. If you're interested, I'd be happy to let you know where you can buy these discs (only two sites in the U.S.).
If you want to read more about COME AND SEE, here's a good review:

Midnight Clear - Does it even exist????
    Not yet.
Paths of Glory - Pan and Scam??? Was it filmed that way?
    Fullframe is the correct OAR.
Tora Tora Tora - Hows the quality and Sound (Especially the SOUND???)
    AV quality is fine.
    Stalingrad - Hows the quality???
    Not anamorphic but certainly watchable.
Iron Cross - Does it exist?
Cross of Iron is available in an awful pan and scan version from Hen's Tooth. There is a very good anamorphic widescreen version available on R2 PAL.
