Prologic with Svideo switching? By the time Svideo was popular in the midrange receiver market, they were offering DD and even DTS.

I have a Denon 3300 DD/DTS receiver I'm looking to part with. What are you looking to spend?

Hey guys. I'm looking to spend probably around $150 shipped if possible. I wish i had more to spend, but my projector set me back a bit. All I'm looking to do is setup 5 speakers. My two existing stereo speakers, and get a center and two rears. No sub for now. I don't think I need 5.1 or anything like that, but I would like something that sounds life like. I've heard friends surround sound systems and I could hardly hear anything from the rears. I'm looking for something that will sound great watching movies. Forgive me, but I'm new to most of this. Do most receivers allow you to turn up the rear speakers volume independant of the rest... To make it sound more life like? Thanks so far for all the offers. I'll have to sort though them and see which is the best deal.

    Edit: 150 for the receiver.

    Thanks
    Joe

Here is what I've been getting today... Tell me what you think is best. I'm leaning towards the Denon 1801. But I'm not sure if It has S video and all that.

    Denon 1801 95 shipped.
    Harmon kardon Avr-85 185 shipped
    Energy eXL15's speakers 100 + shipping
    Onkyo 595 - 200 Shipped
Onkyo Tx-sr500 + 2 sony speakers and polk center channel 400 shipped.

Hmm.... Help me find the right one.
    Thanks.

    Joe

    Joe,

I have a Denon 1801 and I love it. I paid $330 for it a couple years ago and that was a really great deal. For less than $100 I think you can't go wrong. It can switch s video and component, has DTS and DD as well as Pro logic. I've been very happy with mine.

    Joe,

The Denon AVR-1801 does not have Dolby Pro Logic II. Granted, if you are satisfied with the regualar Pro Logic, then it would make a very fine receiver - even if used for just decoding DTS and DD formats.

I have two Onkyo 5.1 receivers I'd like to sell, a TXDS656 and a TXDS676 both $800.00 list originally. The 676 has dts the 656 is DD only but has the inputs for a dvd player w/ a dts decoder, so you could add dts cheaply. They are very well built , in my opinion better than the new Onkyo's. They have big tranformers, dual 15,000uf capacitors, cast aluminum heat sinks . The 676 weighs 32lbs. more than the equivalant SR701 7.1 new model. Both are an honest 85 watts . Pre outs for all channels , learning remotes, multi room ,multi source, b channel outputs, binding posts for all speakers. OSD , front panel inputs including s-video. Original manuals , boxes, remotes. I'd like $175 for the 656 and $200 for the 676. Shipping is a flat 30.00 to lower 48. Paypal prefered or money order. Check my feedback, id cdsherman on ebay. I'm on the good traders list here as well. Email me if interested.

    Chris,

Those sound like some awesome receivers that you have for sale. I'm not knocking Onkyo now for their current gear, but that stuff from a few years back was real sweet. [IMG]
