The reason why i created a part 2 was because it seems that they closed the thread.

It was regarding the problems on Disc 2 on the U.K. version of Harry Potter.

I am sorry if i was too harsh or too uncareless for the people who might enjoy the extras on Disc 2.

But i want Warner Bros. to release an adult or muggle version of the film itself with specs directed towards adults and movie fans.

The thing is, Harry Potter is more a Child phenomenon than an Adult (or Muggle) phenomenon. The books are about kids, kids read the books far more often than the adults do (generally speaking), the movie was originaly marketed to kids, etc.
In the view of the studios, the adults in this situation are there to smile indulgently & give te kids large amounts of cash to buy the Hary Potter dvd for themselvs. The adults buying this movie for themselves are those fanboy/girl types (I include myself in this :D) who do very silly things (like go see AOTC in costume) & are not a predictable or large enough part of the population to cater to.
Thus all the child-friendly extras and not enough (in your opinion) Adult or Movie-Critic oriented extras.

I do agree with Oscar in a sense... maybe not quite how he put it though. The books have shown themselves to be popular with just as many adults as children. I have no kids and my wife and I have read all the books so far. We also really enjoyed the movie. As an adult I'm glad Warner tried to appeal to the kids (and I'm sure they did that with spades) but at the same time I'm VERY disapointed that they make the parts that the ADULTS would be interested in VERY hidden (deleted scenes anyone?).
I'm not sure why Warner decided to do what they did instead of doing what Dreamworks did with Shrek which was better for 2 reasons:
1) 1 SKU with widescreen and full screen on it, and
2) appealing quite well to both adults and children alike with the suppliments, especially not making anyone jump through hoops to get to the important stuff.
I will still buy this DVD (IN WIDESCREEN) but I do hope Warner releases an ADULT version of this at a later time.
Chris.
PS, I'm not holding my breath on that last sentance :)

Oscar, I closed the first thread. It wasn't making any sense. Is Chris interpreting your message correctly? At any rate, I will move this thing to "Studio Feedback" and see if it can survive there.

As a rule of thumb, when a thread of yours has been closed, it's wise not to pick up the matter again by starting another thread. But we'll let you off the hook for now.

Read what Jack said, and also remember to make your subject somewhat descriptive of the contents.

Wow, just looked at your original thread, you really shouldn't "bump" your posts to the top of the board, especially after 20 minutes.

God, I sound like a post nazi. Just want to make sure you know the guidelines.

Ok i would admit i am acting like an idiot.

DVD is suppoused to be about the film not the extras.

I don´t buy SE reissues unless i feel that the film needs it.

I will probably don´t buy HP, but i might.

Also i will wait for the S.E. of Black Hawk Down.

Please close this thread, it just supports my ignorance.

By the way thanks for changing the title.
But "more adult content" sounds like if we want a porno version of HP :D
I still have to think if i would buy the May 28th version.
I buy a DVD if it has the kind of special treatment it deserves.
I don´t think HP deserves that, but it´s a film about imagination, about returning us when we were all little kids running around. So...i might.

As an adult with many adult friends who are enthralled by Harry Potter, I have to disagree that it's "just a child phenomenon". I don't have children, so I don't pretend that they are an excuse for my enjoyment of the books and film.

I would be thrilled to buy a US edition of Harry Potter if it included appropriate adult features. A longer Directors cut wouldn't hurt. CC has spoken quite publicly about wanting the film to be 30 minutes longer.

Wow!. This guys at Criterion truly listened to me!.

I sended in an e-mail to this guys telling them it would be interesting that they would release this film.

Now it could be the first Criterion title from WB since the LD era!.

Oscar, I'm not sure I follow. Are you saying they responded positively? Or that they thought they had a chance of licensing the title?

I agree with Oscar. I will be skipping the current HP DVD in the hope of a release more of interest to those over 8 years old (plus the quality issues noted by Ron in his review). I happen to know more adults than children who read these books and if Warner doesn't want to do the release, a Criterion Collection version would be perfect (though HP doesn't really seem the type of film they'd pick up).

I really see more releases of this down the road, though. The books won't be published fast enough to make one movie a year, every year, so they'll want to stretch it out somehow, likely by limited or deluxe versions of the early films.

I was not enthusiastic about the second disc being mostly kiddie games and that will make me think twice about purchasing the discs.

The Harry Potter is loved by kids but there are a lot of adults out there that bought the book and helped make it a Best Seller.

Gearing the disc only to kids is a huge loss to them I am sure. They might not know that but these studios have got to cater to People over 10.

Read the review on DVDfile.com.

He loved the movie but for the reasons above thought the second disc wasnt even worth watching if you werent a kid.

I also would welcome a version geared towards the film-philes among us. Considering the multiple iterations of big movies being released on dvd, I doubt that Harry Potter will be an exception. I'm going to skip this first release too.

I would do it Chris, but i deleted it, sorry.

I delete my e-mails every month, by the way John.

Where did you get that info planning on releasing HP?.

But as i said, it depends on what my mind and soul tell me next Tuesday.

For example i brought "Spy Kids" without caring about the features, but that was because my mind and soul told me: "Yeah, there is going to be a future version, Oscar.

But believe me do you want just 20 damn seconds of Extra Scenes?".

Harry Potter deserves much more, it was a movie that exceeded many people´s expectations and it dosen´t deserve fluffy extras.

But as i said it depends...
