Anybody with their ear up against the keyhole hear any info regarding Ron Howard's Cocoon?
Any DVD release date projected for this fine 1985 motion picture?

Yeah, I definately want this (and the sequel wouldn't hurt my feelings, either).
I thought this was supposedly coming out a year or so ago, but it obviously got back-burnered and forgotten about. [IMG]
Oh, well...plenty of stuff to watch while I wait. Still, this is a GREAT film. Not just good. GREAT.

    I concur, Big D. [IMG]
A Cocoon SE/CE of some ilk wouldn't be scoffed at by this collector either. [IMG]
(I have a fancy for Ron Howard's pictures. Apollo 13 is my most-visited DVD disc. Great documentary on it too. It's about time to order 1982's Night Shift as well....another Opie sleeper. Very funny film.)

Seems rather conspicuous by it's abscence. Maybe something will be revealed in the upcoming chat.

I've had a nice 'bare-cocoon' region 2 copy of this for ages, hard to believe Fox are twiddling their thumbs wondering whether to ever release it on region 1. It was a moderately big hit in 1985 and was directed by Ron Howard. If it does get released on r1 with commentary and a few featurettes I'll buy it again, hey it's only money![IMG]

Fox's Region 2 version has bad audio distortion (the pier scene in the middle of chapter seven, for example), so perhaps they're trying to fix that before it gets a R1 release?

Wasn't Cocoon one of the early Divx releases? Anybody know for sure?

(and for those new to HTF, I am talking about the competing DVD format, not the video compression codec...)

I agree with David L. that the first Cocoon picture is a great film. And I'd love to see the second released as well.

Um, Fox, could you give us another two superb DVHS releases to go with the DVDs of the Cocoon pictures??
(I am so spoiled at the moment with X2 and Moulin, and just want more more more HD...)

I have the Cocoon DIVX DVD somewhere.
When Circuit City was giving away their Divx players for "nearly free" after the demise of Divx, they also gave me a stack of free DIVX DVDs....
I never played the Cocoon, and I can't play it now... but if you can figure out a way to crak Triple-DES encryption, then we are in business! [IMG]
I also have rocketman DIVX somewhere.... also not on DVD, and a pretty darn good movie!

    Hey Fox!
Notice any interest here? You could do a 20th Anniv release, similar to Splash!.
Three disc set, Cocoon 1 & 2 and extras.
...now...how to contact 20th Century Fox and get them to listen....hmmm......[IMG]

Does this movie still hold up well? I really liked it back in it's day, but I haven't watched it since.
