About to dive into the realm of DVD... Help! What do I need? My receiver is a Nakamichi AV-8. What brands should I look @? My receiver will not decode DTS if that matters. Any advice here would be appreciated! Thanks in advance for your replies....

Tad,

It depends on what you want and what you have. Things to look for if you want DTS capability is a DTS capable DVD player. And, if you have a progressive capable TV then you would probably want to look at units that are progressive.

Other things like do you want to play SACD's or DVD-A's. Do you want multi-disc or single disc player's. Do you have multi-region discs or only region 1?

Just some things to think about.
