Welcome to my Walter Hill Tournament.
Walter Hill is, in my opinion, one of our most underrated directors. Known mostly for action flicks like 48 Hrs. and Extreme Prejudice, he occasionally tries his hand at something different: the beloved Crossroads and the Richard Pryor comedy Brewster's Millions. Sure, he's made a few clunkers, but more often than not, he delivers the goods.
The final match is now underway.
The List
Crossroads (1986)
The Driver (1978)
Extreme Prejudice (1987)
48 Hrs. (1982)***
Geronimo: An American Legend (1993)
Hard Times (1975)
Johnny Handsome (1989)
Last Man Standing (1996)
The Long Riders (1980)***
Red Heat (1988)
Southern Comfort (1981)
Streets of Fire (1984)
Trespass (1992)
Undisputed (2002)
The Warriors (1979)
Wild Bill (1995)

Walter who?
I'll vote for Brewster's Millions as a piece o' poop.
Souther Comfort is a pretty decent flick!

Looks like Supernova, Brewster's Million's, and Another 48 Hrs. are in the running for elimination. Keep the votes coming. :)

Ohhhhh Rob...you should get associated with some of Hill's better films (Long Riders, Hard Times, The Warriors, Trespass, The Driver) pronto. Like Steve said, he's a highly underrated filmmaker and has had a few masterpieces under his belt.
As for the duds, Another 48 Hrs., Supernova and Brewster's Millions simply must go.

"Another 48 HRS"
"Brewster's Millions"
"Supernova"

I will gladly participate in this tourney. Walter Hill is a great filmmaker, and I hope he gets an Academy Award soon. I think he should get one for Lifetime Achievement...When your hit-to-clunker ratio is 16:3, you gotta be doing something right.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

Come out to play-ee-ay!

This tourney will start Monday morning so keep the votes coming! :)
Rob, some of Hill's films can be had fairly cheap - I just picked up Southern Comfort and The Long Riders for $9.99 each at Wal-Mart. Got The Warriors for under twenty bucks at Best Buy. Check 'em out! Unfortunately, you'll want to avoid the MAR releases of Extreme Prejudice and Johnny Handsome. :frowning:
