Unless there are major improvements in virus control, or a vaccine speeds to the finish in record time this fall, I don't think there's going to be much Christmas shopping this year, anyway.

This isn't about giving EE's a break. It's all about trying to control crowds and not have oodles of people in an enclosed space. Also: it's about PR. If you have a line of people outside the store and they've been there for four hours because of social distancing, that's terrible optics.

I think it would be foolish of any store to have a normal Black Friday whether it starts on Thanksgiving or the day after. To have hundreds of people trying to grab the 100 $199 60 inch TV's during a pandemic is beyond stupid. Eliminate limited quantity doorbusters or have some type of raffle in advance where if you win a ticket you can get the $199 TV.

As Gary says, I'd think this would just postpone the larger crowds to BF.

Though I'm still not sure there's going to be much of a shopping season if there's not yet a vaccine and the economy is still struggling.

For people who can still afford to do holiday shopping, retailers will just move the deals online and do more to encourage sales on the websites.

Even without a virus, I haven't looked for Black Friday deals in a store for years anyway. It's so much easier to click a button and do it online. That will likely increase this year, as we have already seen with stores like Amazon having increased traffic and sales due to the pandemic.

Personally, the holiday gift I most want is a vaccine in the new year, and I don't think that's something Amazon will be able to provide. ;)

I dunno. Amazon's pretty good.
They can just toss the vaccine out of the truck and you can inject yourself :)!

Because Wile keeps on ordering from them ...
I read somewhere that Warner Brothers had an endorsement contract with ACME, so Mr. Coyote got all his devices for free.

I only bought one item from ACME, but it was defective and they refused to give me my money back. So, I had to join a class action lawsuit against them. As those things usually go, though, the attorneys got $10 million and all I received was a coupon for $25 off a future purchase with ACME. As if I would buy another one of their products after that incident with the anvil falling on my head and knocking me over that cliff...
