wallpaper does not fill screen (1 Viewer)

so when i use the component out on my ati x800xl to run to my hitatchi 51f520 and set it up to use 1440x1000 (if i remember correctly it's the resolution most people use on crt's) no matter what i do the wallpaper on my monitor will never fill up the tv. there are grey bars on all sides, someone suggested making sure it was set to stretch mode which it is.

beyond this i'm out of ideas as this is new to me so any suggestions would rock

Do you know what the supported input resolutions are for your hitachi? That resolution sounds a little funny to me, but who knows.

The Hitachi manual should display the accepted resolutions - try setting it to one of those.

this is the one that is automatically chosen by the catalyst drivers 1776x1000 is the correct resolution, had to go check it

I still have a hard time understanding that. Your manual (http://www.hitachi.ca/supportingdocs...ion/51F520.pdf) says 720p or 1080i over component. 1080i is 1920x1080.

Sending it the wrong resolution would explain the bars.
