I've never walked out of a movie early. If the movie is bad, I want to see just how bad it is. I guess I can see people walking out half way through or something, but I can't get people who leave after 15-20 minutes into the film. I mean, you have to have some patience. I believe we've all seen films that started out bad but turned out to be very good movies. My personal favorite is when people leave because they are so offended i.e. Oprah for Interview with the Vampire. What did she expect? It's freakin' vampires!! Then there's old people leaving the theater because of all of the so called "foul language" in some films. Lighten up!

Walked out of the following:
- Toys (Robin Williams)
- Scenes from a Mall (Woody Allen & Bette Midler)

Probably a couple others that I tried hard to forget ;)

the only movie i can think of where i wanted to walk (and would have) was dude, where's my car?.

that movie was so pitifully stupid, i was actually cringing in my seat. unfortunately (or fortunately) my friend had paid for it, so i stuck through it. gawd it was painful.

otherwise, for most movies, i'll stick with it. i figure i'm already there, i paid my money, and i've already allocated the time...so what the heck.

The movies I really really wanted to walk out of were Batman & Robin and Vegas Vacation. But I'm one of those people that has to watch a movie all the way through once I start watching.

It took me weeks to get through Lost in Space and The Scorpion King just because they were so bad, but i was persistant and wanted to watch it through.

Eye of the Beholder is another movie which was so bad, we had to just watch it to the end and find out if was going to make any sense in it's conclusion.

I rarely go to the theater anymore as I prefer the one I have at home. However, there are special movies I will go to and they rarely, if ever, disappoint me enough to walk out.

And the other was "Solaris 2003" Remake. I was SOOOOO bored during this movie, I just turned it off.
I fell asleep watching the original. Course, it was during a movie marathon and very late, but I probably would have fell asleep during it anyways... :b

The only movie I ever walked out of was called In Country, starring Bruce Willis.

I think that was the name.

That was the worst serious movie ever made.

Ok, I agree with the KR thing in FFC's "Dracula" but I still like the film immensely, despite the aforementioned actor. I think that Gary Oldman's portrayal of the Count is classic. It goes far and beyond the stereotypical Count Dracula.

I also have to agree with the comment made about being visibly angry after seeing the remake of "Psycho" with Anne Heche in the Janet Leigh role. Let's face it, Anne Heche is NO Janet Leigh and what's his name is definately NO Anthony Perkins!!!! I should have walked out on this one, but had to stay for principles sake.

I never walked out on a movie, but did get refunds when the projection was supremely bad (one time the house lights went up every ten minutes or so).

The only movie I ever walked out on was the sneak peek of Blackhawk Down. I probably would have stuck it out if I was on my own or with my brother, but I was with my wife. She is the kind that only watches a movie if it entertains. Doesnt need/want/expect it to be deep, artistic, have any meaning, etc. just wants it to be entertaining. She felt that this was WAY too documentary-like and didnt care for the editing (fast and jerky) which I did not either. Anyway, we walked out about halfway through.

I dont think I really go to enough movies to "walk out" on a lot. I mean, if you only go to a half dozen a year, you choose pretty carefully.

I've never walked out on a film, but I came damn close to leaving and demanding a refund before the film even started recently due to the sheer number of commercials and trailers (mostly trailers) before the film even started. I mean, two or three trailers is OK, nine is excessive.

Unfortunately the film that followed was "Cabin Fever," so in hindsight I sort of wish I had left before it started. :D

Never—so far.

I stay until the last out, even if my team is behind by seven runs and the last second of a basketball, football or hockey game. You never know, even when there is no chance for the final outcome when you might see a great play.

Count me in as a "grind it out" movie watcher. I stay to the bitter end. Why? Because I'm an idiot. I'm always debating with myself whether or not to walk out since there's the matter of passing in front of other cinema patrons and disturbing them. However, I'm sure some of them are usually indecisive too, and I could start some sort of revolt, giving people the support they need to get up and go. Here are the only movies I've desperately wanted to walk out on:

The Avengers
Dreamcatcher (pooptastic)
National Security
George of the Jungle
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (Shut up, I was 12 years old)
Scary Movie 2
Tomb Raider

Walked out of "The Matrix: Reloaded The IMAX Experience" last weekend. I did see it when it originally came out and didn't hate it, probably because the action sequences kept me from really thinking about it. Seeing it the second time, it seemed like it was written by some 30 year-old philosophy dropout living in his parent's basement. Talk about some incomprehesible dialog!

I would have loved to walk out on "Batman and Robin", but I was with 3 other people.

Haven't really walked out on a movie unless I felt there was a good reason (illness, nausea, etc) but I almost always stick it out to the end.

Recently I got uber-bored with Open Range but I stayed to see what the resolution would be.

Also recently, I was extremely shaken by Irreversible but I refused to turn it off because I'd heard that everything was resolved by the "end". Turned out to be true but getting there is an emotionally draining trip. Anyone who stopped playing the film should give it another try but its perfectly natural to be repulsed by it. If you hadn't been then you're probably one sick puppy!

Hmmm, a few people who didn't like The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, eh? I've always looked at it as a sort of operatic farce without the music about truly vile people. Besides, its also one of the mostly beautifully produced & shot films I've ever seen.

UGH!! I hate this film! Its so overblown & pretentious! I'll admit I liked it the 1st time but after seeing how horrible Winona & Keeanu were & watching Hopkins uneven & overdone perf, I can't watch more than the prologue before I get bored.

I know a guy that walked out on LOTR 10 minutes in because it was the "worst movie he had ever seen".

Reading the thread I just remembered I walked out on Johnny Neumonic too. Thats 3 Keanu Reeves movies. Note to self . . .

And I also walked out on 2001 at a midnight showing back in 1996. It was about 1:30am and I was falling asleep. I'd seen it 20 times before. Thats when I knew I couldnt do the late movies too much anymore. I wish someplace in Dallas would play older films at normal hours. Raiders was here last weekend at you guessed it . . . midnight.

I just found it REALLY unpleasant. And beautifully shot dog feces, maggots, fork in the cheek, etc. just doesn't make it artistic for me. I can certainly say it has stayed in my memory, however. (I spent the last 20 minutes waiting for my boyfriend in the lobby where I talked with the theatre worker who was really thrilled with cleaning up vomit after the showings. )

Left at intermission of a real so-so production of Eugene O'Neil's Long Days Journey Into Night, if you think lacklustre productions of Shakespeare drags...
I feel for you. I've seen a couple of productions of O'Neil which thankfully were well done. But I can appreciate the full horror that a bad production would be.

Anyway, back on topic - I once walked out of a video screening of Howard the Duck at an office social event at a colleague's house. Someone had rented the video as it was the only thing left on the shelves at the store (I wonder why?). Actually, we all left. One by one we crept out of the room into the kitchen, just leaving our boss (who'd fallen asleep somewhat the worse for drink). He came round just as Howard is in bed with the lead female and in his somewhat confused state thought he was watching a weird porn movie.
