first of all.... i love weezer. i'm so stoked that they're actually putting out albums again. rivers cracks me up... although, his fetish for young asian girls can be somewhat disturbing at times. nonetheless, being an AMATURE (in alllll senses of the word) guitar player, i want to connect my guitar to my old pioneer amp and just mess around for a while. sure, my brother has fancy bass guitars and electric guitars and amps... but, i like doing things the geeky way, =w= style. so, i've read some posts about how to set this up- possibly through a mixing board and straight into my amp. i'm just going to use an old pioneer receiver and 2 technics speakers which i'm not tooooo concerned about. just doing this for kicks. should be fun... let me know. and post about weezer.
    bye-

peter, to hook up your guitar in a simple but decent-sounding way, you can do what I did. I bought this guitar effects pedal, Korg AX1G and plugged it in between the guitar and the amp. It's inexpensive, but sounds pretty good. It has a "guitar amp simulator" so it sounds very much like a real guitar amplifier.
There are some sound clips on the page I linked to too, and they are just how it sounds on my stereo.

=W= is cool. I saw them in concert. During the encore they dropped a huge lighted =W= from the ceiling. It was sooo cool [IMG].

    mickes-
is this pedal made to be connected to your receiver? does it have RCA outputs, or did you just buy an rca to phono (i think that's the size) connection? thanks-

It outputs stereo sound in a phono plug. You need a Phono -> RCA adapter.

    mickes-
so, i borrowed my brother's pedal and went to radio shack and got the stereo 1/4 to the rcas... works nicely as a backup amd so that i dont have to lug the amp from one house to the other when i go on vacation. thanks for the advice- it was solid.

I'm still curious what makes you think Rivers connects his guitar to his stereo-- what make this "weezer style"? He has some of the nicest guitar gear of anyone I've met.

BTW- Connecting a distortion pedal to your home stereo speakers will likely cause damage. Make sure you don't like your speakers much.
