I'm sure most of you have seen this, if not.... S&V tested the 52tx. So if you have a 1014 and are wondering how much power it puts out, here ya go.

Qoute:
5 channels driven into 8 ohm loads:
.1 % distortion at 115.3 watts :1 % distortion at 129.7 watts

Got that from AVS btw.

There is usually a month lag time between when the review is posted on line and when it appears in hardcopy.

I think Joe meant that he is hoping for an on-line review on the 1014 in addition to the Sound and Vision review. :)

Having owned several amps and higher end receivers i have to say that the 1014 does not lack power. Very impressive for it's price. this receiver is a bargain IMO.

Wayne,
I see. I believe there is also a review of the 52TX in the December issue Home Theater Magazine. However, the newstand near me only had a shrink-wrapped copy so I couldn't read it during my lunch break. :frowning:

Yung, I've looked for both of the December issues. They're not on the shelves in my area yet, either. Hopefully, soon though.

Meanwhile, those with the Pioneer receivers, keep on enjoying them. I'm sure the reviews will just back up what you know about your fine receivers. :)

I'm really enjoying my 52TX. My son and I just got through playing Halo 2 for about 5 hours and it sounded awesome on my 5.1 speaker system. Lots of cool surround effects going on. Sounds great for my movies too. Enjoy.

i've heard the 52TX and wow it sounds really loud and clear, i'm leaning of buying the 52TX but i'm see that the 52TX has one motorola chip and i'm worried it won't handle 1509kbps dts soundtrack on d-vhs movies and i want to know if anyone out there has seen a movie in this receiver at the 1509kbps and the receiver hasn't cut off.

UliseZ,
I'm not sure if this helps you but the 1014TX which shares many similarities with the 52TX has a single Motorola DSP chip at 180 MIPS which is faster than the 150 MIPS chips in other Pioneer receivers.

i want to know also if the 52TX can handle 4ohm speakers because i want to buy some speakers that sound really nice and i would think they sound beautifully with the Elite receiver but i want to know to if it could drive them because i've heard that the Elite have had trouble handeling 4ohm speakers.

The deals on the 1014TX are getting hotter. Today, I received a Best Buy holiday catalog in the mail. Inside, there are some coupons for 10% off when used 11/12 - 11/15/2004. Considering the 1014Tx is already on sale for $474 or so with 10% this week at BB, one could apply the coupon and save another $47.00 off the price. Getting the 1014Tx for such a great price is worth looking into for those trying to decide if this is the right receiver for them.

* Please note, BB also is offering 12% off purchases when the coupon is used with a BB credit card or Rewards card - making the deal even more impressive if you have any of these cards.

Enjoy! :)

Unfortunately, the coupons I received note on the back that "Markdown taken from regular prices" so I assume they could not be used in addition to the sale price.:frowning:

Compare those results with the S&V lab results for the Denon mid-fi receivers:
AVR-2805:
5 channels driven (8 ohms) .... 82 W (19.1 dBW)

AVR-3805:
5 channels driven.....................107 W (20 dBW)

Shiu,
Do you have the HT Mag test results for the 52TX. I believe they also reviewed it in their December issue.

Being a long time Pioneer fan, it's nice to see that pioneer finally gave their receivers the features and power to give some meaning back to the name, "ELITE".

Not that the older receiver were slouches by any means, it just seems this year they stepped it up a notch.

Just wanna give a big thumbs up to Pioneer. And I can't wait for my 54tx to get here.

Chuck,

Thanks for pointing out the issue of using a coupon on top of a sales price at BB. I guess this could be an an issue where your mileage may vary - depending on the cashier you get when you go through the checkout. Or, maybe their system pulls up the regular price for an item when the coupon in scanned.

In any regards,  to BB for writing so many restrictions into their coupons.

Yung, I have not seen the test results of the 52TX. The results I posted were from the Aug issue (except for the Yamaha RX-V2400) available on the H.T. mag site. Last time I checked, the Dec issue was not out yet (at Chapters).
