VR506 level trouble

    How come on my Kenwood vr506 the sound level from my Video 1 input - which is my dish line outs- is at least twice the level of my DVD6ch input (Pioneeer DV440) listening to movies in DD 5.1.

    When I switch between sources the Video 1 sound level blows me back and I got to turn down the amp.

    Any ideas ??

    I have the vr505, and like all the recievers I have owned, the dvd audio is much lower than any other input. I am not sure why, someone will tell you the real reason, but it is normal, as for as I can tell, my direct tv system volume level plays between 50-60, and my dvds play between 20-40 depending on the film. Hope this helps.
